Who Would Have Thought Pet Owners Brought Wank That Wouldn't End?
A million years ago, or perhaps just a few weeks, I posted this to i_wank. A good time was generally had by all, except for a few trolly SPO members who insisted that their potentially dangerous and incredibly lacking in common sense approach was the only way to be a true animal lover.

Thanks to an anonymouse, I discover that the wank has not, nay, it WILL not die!

[info]ragalicious posts an update of sorts in [info]dot_pet_snark, using a story that smacks a bit of JF members' fictional better-than-you pet stories. The OP to the [info]i_wank entry, [info]storyofherlife, is not impressed by the story completely different than hers. [info]dot_pet_snarkers generally mock [info]storyofherlife's fear of dogs and stress-induced, convoluted original post.

Of course, reading this entry I discover that there has been a TAG created for [info]storyofherlife!

[info]katkia222 also posted an entry about [info]storyofherlife! Upon said posting, one of [info]dot_pet_snark's admins decrees ENOUGH WITH THE [info]storyofherlife ALREADY!

Some links go back to January, but others bring the wank back into glorious February, thus ignoring the admin request.

The whole "OMG why didn't she rescue the dogs???" thing annoys me so much. If I saw two large, strange dogs on my property period I would run inside and lock the door.

Gah. Bitches

How come that for some people, having a "noble cause" means they act increasingly assholish towards everyone/everything else? There seems to be a weird proportional thing going on with that, and it doesn't really matter which "cause" they have chosen

I couldn't tell you why but I'll just agree that it's true. Biggest wank I was ever involved in had to do with a mod of a "noble cause" getting pissed at me and my posting in my private journal that that sort of wankery is a great way to drive people away from said cause.

Ah yes, because something as simple as throwing a rope around the animals neck...

Am I the only one thinking how this can go horribly, horribly wrong?

Simple? I can't get a bsketball in the basket, and I've never thrown a rope in my life. I probably don't have a good, strong rope here

but ah, I guess I can use my (vegan) belts and tie them together to for a lasso. Superb.

Wow, I missed this first time around, this is unbelievable.

My favorite part? For a community called "stupid pet owners", they sure have some... creative names for dog breeds.

piranea (sp?) retriver cross ?

piranea german shepard ??

Pyranean mountain dog ???

Are they trying to say Pyrenees?

You're right, no one has an obligation to help an animal which is suffering. It is potentially dangerous. However, most people who care about animals care about them EVEN IF there is a risk of personal harm, or they're big scary dogs, and to post and complain about your personal suffering ("I had to hear an animal suffer for 4 hours!") when you could have ended it by taking a bite risk, is simply TACKY.

*resists urge to write long rant* Some people ... are AFRAID of dogs. Any dogs. Some people were once scared by a Yorkie (SHUT UP), and this may have freaked them out about dogs. Not to mention the time they were chased by the one-eyed beagle. It took a lot of work for some people to get to be unafraid of large, not-strange dogs, and even now the sound of dogtags jingling might start off a panic reaction (totally not fun, especially when it's just someone's keys) and the sight of a strange dog causes them to freeze up. And you know what? The same people love their dog and are sad because he gets seizures and might end up with hip dysplasia. THEY STILL CARE ABOUT DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS.

... Sorry. Wanked a bit there. But, man, these people make me angry.

Well, now she knows better, doesn't she? The next time she sees a dog in trouble, she won't go over and light it on fire and then go brag on the SPO community about laughing while it burned and taunting it with those joke fire extinguishers that shoot springy snake things.

Oh, wait, that isn't what she did. I keep forgetting.

As for the "I've helped cattle and horses" person: yeah, so what? Does the fact that they're not predators not reach your tiny pea brain? Were these animals which were tangled in wire, or mired in mud, and thus immobilized? Were they, in addition, animals which were used to being handled, or at least habituated to the presnence of humans, and thus unlikely to panic?

The worst scars I've got are from disentangling a still-wet calf from a barbed wired fence; on the other hand, I've cut broken smooth wire which was wrapped around an Appaloosa's ankle and hock while he stood quietly (and chewed on my hair).

And I am not going to try to rescue an unfamiliar dog from an iced-over swimming pool, nor one whose lead is tangled around a tree, nor handle an injured one, unless I've got someone with me who can help imobilize and distract it.

I can't believe they're still wanking about it. Wolfsilveroak really can't get enough of this, can she?

What exactly do they hope to accomplish by telling storyofherlife about other successful attempts? Make her feel guilty? Teach her a lesson for the next time a huge strange dog falls in the pool? Mock her publicly? I don't think it's doing much good.

These people anger me. *Goes to eat more pineapple upside-down cake*

Oooh. Yet another reason to hate the fuckers on dot_pet_snark. On SPOs, you've got to keep your goldfish in a tank the size of Windermere. On dot_pet_snark you need a tank the size of the PACIFIC OCEAN and OMFG it's still overstocked you fucking moron. Obviously you don't care about goldfish or anything. Once you've starved for a month to feed your dog with prohibitively expensive food and hire it a canine massage artiste every 12 hours, then maybe you'll be fit to own some sea monkeys. If we supervise.

My safety comes before the safety of random dogs I don't know. Period. Yes, I'd call people better able to handle the situation, not just ignore it. But any asswipe who tells me I should risk serious injury trying to help a couple of big strange dogs by myself or I'm a horrible person is going to get told to go fuck themselves.

I honestly wonder if these people would say the same thing if it was a large feline in the pool...I mean, you have to save it even if it rips your throat apart!

As for the other story of the "wonderful pregnant woman who saved the neighbor dog". First of all she ask someone else to help, second of all the person KNEW the dog, third of all it was during the day, fourth of all she wasn't afraid of dogs!
Can anybody else see the huge difference between the story and how stupid it is to compared them?!? It's like comparing how I eat ice cream and how I eat a soup! It's not the same thing!

I think all this wank warrants Chuck Norris-style [info]stupidpetowners and [info]dot_pet_snark facts.

When God covered the Earth with a flood, [info]stupidpetowners and [info]dot_pet_snark were able to save all the animals, feed them expensive food, give them baths, and roundhouse kick [info]storyofherlife in the face all at once.

[info]stupidpetowners and [info]dot_pet_snark do not bother with brand-name pet food, for they know the one and only true food pets enjoy: the delicious taste of self-righteous ejaculation.

Every time a [info]stupidpetowners or [info]dot_pet_snark member posts, God kills PetSmart employee out of fear.

[info]stupidpetowners and [info]dot_pet_snark members are the only ones to ever outwit the Scooby Gang, killing the meddling kids in the process. Scooby and Scrappy now live in the wild, where all animals truly belong.

If a [info]stupidpetowners and [info]dot_pet_snark member sees their shadow on Groundhog Day, it is only because they have liberated the groundhog and buried the handler's corpse in the woods.

[info]stupidpetowners and [info]dot_pet_snark members do not have to see or hear about you treating your pet unfairly; they already know, but deign to torture you with guilt and continuous crossposting.

If a baby and a cricket were slowly sinking into lava, [info]stupidpetowners and [info]dot_pet_snark members would save the cricket and the baby, then berate the baby not for saving the insect itself.

I have an exam to study for, so the trollies will have to wait til, like, Thursday for a reply. =(

Eugh. I've been around various breeds and crossbreeds of dogs all my life, strays and pets and all that good mess. There's still no fucking way you'd get me jumping in a pool after a dog I didn't know. Why? Because one of my biggest phobias on this planet is water deeper than a puddle. Half-filled bathtub? Pool? Ocean? No way in hell. If that makes me an OMGhorrible! person to these self-righteous bastards, I'm fine with that, because me freezing up and having a panic attack as soon as I hit the water sure as hell isn't going to help me rescue a dog, it'd just mean there'd be two floating bodies instead of one.
