SuperBowl commercials raped my dog and killed my grandma!
Right. This is tiny, and it's not the flamewar type of wankery, but rather people on the internet being thoroughly insane - but it's got a nice strong WTF factor so I thought I'd share.

The Detroit News Online has a Cyber Survey up, asking people which of the Super Bowl commercials was their favorite. Since they only list 9, the last spot is "Other", and they left commenting open, probably figuring that people would specify which ad they meant by "Other" or explain why they thought that Magic Fridge commercial was way better than the Whopperettes. (Such as, one of them was actually funny.)

Of course, this being the internet, a few people decide to rant about things that have jack shit to do with advertising.

Most of the commercials were great -= the airplane one - (Ameritrade?) where the woman ends up on the man's lap next to her - was disgusting -to be aired when all ages of children were watching - What was the point - only a moron would find that amusing! Then you wonder why a 13 year old in Howell molestes a 7 year old - TV ads, responsiblity - where does it begin! They just showed him how to do it!

If you didn't see the ad, it had a woman getting up to use the airplane bathroom and then stumbling over a sleeping guy in the aisle seat, and when the lights come on suddenly, it looks as though the two of them are in a compromising position. The tag line was "Don't Judge Too Quickly - We Won't."

The horrors! This commercial will definitely teach kids to - fall asleep on airplanes, in the hopes that someone will fall on their lap. Or possibly sit on people's laps. And you know, lap-sitting leads straight to buttsex.

ETA: the commercial can be found here, under "Ameriquest Mortgage - Turbulence."

My niece was just seriously injured in a terrible crash where the driver at fault was DUI and had a number of empty Budweiser cans in his car. These horrid beer and liquor commercials should be outlawed, just like they did years ago with cigarettes. Those who drink and then drive should lose their licences for at least a year, have their cars taken away and spend at least 60 days in jail. Those who kill someone should be executed. Maybe THAT would lower the DUI death rate!

You know, I used to be all for drunk driving, but you say your niece was hurt? Can't have that. Well, then. Outlaw that shit, pronto. In fact, let's bring back prohibition.

And on the second page:

I enjoyed the American Dream (Budwieser). That was the american dream, past tense. The little guy used to be helped along the way,now it seems the little guy is tossed out. Istill enjoyed this commercial more than any other. Thanks for the space.

This commercial was about two bigger Clydesdales helping a colt think he's pulling the Bud wagon. I got the feeling it was supposed to be his parents. But apparently, that's because I'm a Communist. No, wait, am I a fascist?

ETA: The commercial is here, under Budweiser - Clydesdale American Dream. Thanks to [info]braisinhussy for the link.

Like I said, it's teensy, but it proves the point that if you give anyone a place to sound off on the internet, they'll get up on a soapbox and fap away.
