ZOMG! Conspiracy and victim-blaming!
Yesterday, Dick Cheney got a bit trigger-happy. And Ginmar thinks a conspiracy is afoot. Harmonyfb reasonably points out that such accidents can happen during a quail hunt. Somehow, this amounts to blaming the victim and the McDonald's coffee-burn case is brought up (shouldn't this be a law?). Ginmar isn't quite done however. Watch her use those stellar debate skillz as she responds to someone who seems to know how quail hunting is done! Watch her minions suggest that this wasn't an accident at all! Watch...oh, I give up. I'm not going back in, for the batshit broke my brain.

We were talking about this in class today and the one point being brought up is that they were hunting Quail. Are Quail so dangerous that if you think one is behind you you have to turn and shoot immediatly without even looking first?

The accident is the CIA's fault, actually. On the basis of bad intelligence, Cheney believed Whittington was a quail.

What everyone seems to be missing out on here is the fact that Dick Cheney is Dick Cheney. If he really did want this guy dead, I think he'd have more and better people-killing resources than a "hunting accident."

After all, he did mastermind the Crusades, the Great Depression, the Holocaust, the bombing of the World Trade Center, and the pouring of mind-control drugs into the world's water supply.

Strange. Perhaps it's just me, but I find that when people take that particular snotty tone whilst flashing their polysyllabics, it's not exactly what I'd call condusive to discourse. In fact, that sort of thing is generally meant to shut down discourse via intimidation through language. It also has the (sometimes, but not always, intentional) effect of obscuring one's intent. After all, why threaten defenestration if not to 1) show off one's polysyllabic prowess (I'll see you those multi-syllables and raise you a synonym and an alliteration) 2) force the victim to look up the word before they even understand your intent, thus delaying their response and showing off your linguistic superiority and 3) obscure the teensy, yet relevant fact that you'd like to throw someone out the window.

Don't tl;dr it, man, it's GOLD.

Has anyone brought up how quail are (practically) endangered because of hunting and land encroachment? Or is that just in Florida?

That was my first reaction to the entire story: "Gah! How could a government official be known to hunt something that's almost on the endangered list?"
