Got this off a mouse at [info]wank_report.

[info]whune says: Once upon a time women didn't go on dates without someone to protect them and watch out for them, incidentally date-rape wasn't so common.

He then goes on to say that if he were a pretty woman, he'd never leave the house: If I was a frail woman that couldn't defend my virtue by myself, I'd no sooner go out with men on dates alone, than I would go into space without oxygen and a climate suit.

And from the same thread: Rape is a compensation-method; and testment of an overall weak spirit; and refined warrior, even if physically weaker will always prevail.

Naturally, people boggle at the sheer idiocy of this statement.

On his own journal, he reiterates: all this date rape is just a natural result of the feminist movement: chicks wanted to be independent, so they got it.

Oh, and he's a virgin. Unsurprisingly.

Ooh, ooh, I know this one! Faulty Logic!

Going out in space without oxygen and a space suit is guaranteed to kill you. No wiggle room there. Now granted, I've only been on one date in my life, but I totally came back alive and un-raped, which gives me a 100% success rate in not-getting-raped-or-killed. Hence, his analogy is flawed.

Also, he's a fuckwit.

Glancing over his journal I'd say he's got a ton of insightful things to contribute. Like where he maligns a bunch of soldiers for being in therapy after killing someone who jumped out at them. His logic: it's war, it's nothing personal! Suck it up!

Eh? EH? EH?! WTFucking Hell?! I've dated. I've gotten drunk during dates. I used to walk the streets of Savannah at ungodly hours of the morning alone going between dorms or to pick up chinese food or whatever. My virginity is still damn well intact, and the worst I've ever gotten was being groped by a couple of guys while forcing my way through a wasted crowd of college students on St. Patty's Day. And those guys? Laid flat. Frail woman needing someone to protect my virtue my ass. No wonder there's no woman who'll touch him.

But not, apparently, in proper spelling.

Also, I love it that sexual assault victims are the ones who need to take responsibility, and not their rapists.

Eh, I wish I could say I'm surprised.

But even modern men like to repeat that old song and dance in which women are ALWAYS to blame for men's inability to control themselves. Women walking home in broad daylight who are raped by a stranger who jumped out of the bushes will be lambasted by the bastard's defense attorney for "asking for it."

This mindset created the Magdelene Laundries and just about every other form of gender-based repression in the world. "Men are controlled by their dicks and not by their brains, morals, or anything else, SO...lock up the women. All their fault."

Maybe one day [info]whune will get into a horribly disfiguring traffic accident and be told by the police, judge, and jury, "It's your fault that other driver smashed into your car. You knew there might be drivers on the road who were bad/drunk/just plain assholes, and you knew they might smash into your car before you could see them coming, but you got behind the wheel and on the road anyway. You were asking to get twenty-nine of your bones broken, and I hope it's taught you a valuable lesson."

This really shits me off when people say this. Y'know why?

In certain parts of the world, women are never allowed out of the house without a male family member. They must wear burquas from head to toe to hide all their sinful flesh. They can't work, drive, or have a life outside their home. Their husbands are especially picked out for them by their parents.

And guess what? THEY STILL GET RAPED.

And not only does she still get raped, she is totally to blame, and is either expected to commit suicide or get murdered by her own family to restore the family honor.

So it doesn't matter what women do. It doesn't matter if we give up all our rights, freedoms, and dignity. We will still be raped, and we'll still be blamed for it.

Thus, the answer is not telling women to do that. The answer is telling guys like this to SHUT THEIR FUCKING HOLES.

Well, if somebody shoots him in a driveby as he's walking out to check his mail, I hope he owns up to his responsibility for his situation. After all:

1. There are people who shoot other people.
2. Sane people know this.
3. Most unarmed people can't defend themselves against people with guns.
4. Most people are on a "live my life" kick and so neglect to wear full body armor and carry a riot shield.

We live in an "I want to walk outside the house and not get shot" world.

My stance is simply that one makes ones choices to leave the house and takes ones chances that one will get shot.

So, uh, what about situations where the would-be chaperone does the raping? What are we supposed to do then, lock ourselves up in convents? Or perhaps we should stay home, and submit ourselve to Russian Amputee Bride websites when we're finally ready to find a man to take care of us.

I care deeply for people, but often have little to say that would be of any use to others, unless they are highly motivated to grasp it.

I hate people who use the phrase "once upon a time" when they're not starting a fairy tale. They are invariably people with no knowledge or understanding of history.

Once upon a time, everyone was nice to each other and married people were happy! I know, because I saw it on Happy Days! Yes, and burning crosses were the latest thing! And everybody wanted kids, so it was ok that married women were more or less forced to be mothers!

Once upon a time, women wore pretty dresses and men had respect for them! I know because I saw it in Pride and Prejudice! Yes, and most women were dirt poor and had to work eighteen hour days in factories making those pretty dresses. And half of London was addicted to gin.

Once upon a time, men were bold and women were virtuous, and dragon slaying abounded! I know, because I saw it in some crappy faux-medieval shite!
Won't someone think of the dragons?

More to the point, where's my fairy-tale, bitch man?
