I like Stalin. He's fascinating to study. I have to admire a guy, even just a little, who gains power in spite of the most popular party leader ever saying "uh, anyone but him," goes crazy, purges the upper echelons of his government and military, then goes uncrazy, holds off a Nazi invasion for some time, then hands the Nazi army its first defeat, then basically manipulates his way into gaining a shitload of territory after the war, then manages to hold on to power until his death.

*lifts eyebrow* I didn't see any backtracking there. I DID see people deciding that it's okay to call someone whose gender is uncertain "it," and that's a hell of a lot wankier, in my opinion, than not revealing your gender, sexual orientation AND genital configuration from the word go.

Do you think you would have even been able to identify as transgendered without feminism?

Arrgh, please study some queer history before making stupid statements like that. Please.

Nah, I wouldn't say it's backtracking, it just looked more like a "gradual revealing of new information about myself that just coincidentally happens to make the last person wrong." You know? It's hard for me to put it into words. I can see one or two posts of "other poster assumes X, OP says 'no, I'm y'," but that many in a row just feels fishy to me. Like, if someone had come in and blamed the whole thing on the OP having had too many cheeseburgers the day before for whatever reason, the OP would have said, "Hah! I'm a vegan, dumbass!" But if someone had come in and said that the OP being a Vegan had caused the problem, the OP would have instead come back with, "Hah! I had steak for dinner, dumbass!"

Am I making any sense? I'm trying to find the words and I'm afraid I'm failing.
