Trumpcest?
Over on [info]ohnotheydidnt, a post is made about a statement Donald Trump made regarding his daughter on "The View:"

"When asked how he would react if Ivanka, a former teen model, posed for Playboy, Trump replied, 'It would be really disappointing - not really - but it would depend on what's inside the magazine.'

He added: 'I don't think Ivanka would do that, although she does have a very nice figure. I've said if Ivanka weren't my daughter, perhaps I'd be dating her.'"

Most people react with statements such as "eww!" and the like. A few comparisons to Woody Allen and Joe Simpson are thrown around. But [info]jackycane thinks that Americans are too uptight. And someone takes issue with the remark.

And hello, but WTF?

"In Japan when a father wants to tell his son "good job" often times they put their hand on the sons crotch."

I really need to read up on Japanese culture.

I don't agree with it being an "uptight American" thing, but I really don't see the big deal with Trump's statement. I mean, probably worded badly, but...it's not like he said he'd like to put his junk in her trunk.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure its an uptight AMERICAN thing ... but I find it slightly uptight myself.

If anything, its like he's paying himself out as well as complimenting his daughter.

Also, to be perfectly honest, if my dad was 30 years younger and not my DAD I'd probably end up dating him - because the man was hot as all get out when he was young. That doesn't mean that I have any desire to do him. *shudders*

I know what you mean *laughs* I remember looking through old photoalbums with my mom, getting to an old picture and going "HOLY SHIT WHO IS THAT HOT GUY". It was my grandfather. He was hot as a young man! There's nothing wrong with saying that, either!

Um, no, that ball thing was an ancient Greek thing. Seriously, I can't look for it now since I have to go, but I remember reading a passage where one man was saying to another something along the lines of, "And you met my son on the road and you didn't even feel his balls."

Or something. I'm really hoping there's someone around here who remembers this, since this is very ill-documented and all I can plead is that it's before 6 in the morning.
