ah, religion.
So I was reading about the discovery of the Gospel of Judas today (Jesus/Judas is SO CANON now) and I decided to wander over to LJ's [info]catholicism community to see if anyone was pitching a hissy about it yet.

Instead I found this little piece of joy from [info]crosstherubicon:

...In all honesty, I regard the Islamic faith as a barbarism. Not its members as barbarians but its tenets as barbaric - a subtle difference.

I cannot abide by the notion that I share anything with this group other than a tenuous humanity and an abstract theology.

And furthermore, I believe it is a christian's duty to defend our faith with certainty and not political correctness. Charity but not 'tolerance' (another overused word in our modern culture).

What follows are seventy comments, at least half of which seem to be from the OP about how the person he is replying to is stupid and wrong and also stupid, even when the commenter is asking a question to clarify the OP's opinion.

I'd be much happier being Catholic if it weren't for the other Catholics. Gah. I think I'll go back to the J/J shipping now.
