Smoking is bad. Also, sky is blue and grass is green.
We poor folk haven't fapped in a while. Best be to seeing to that.
vegaenglit thinks that smoking is expensive, stupid and lame.
There's a lot of "word" going around.
Except for karimonica , who thinks that "smoking is a way of life".
maaandy thinks that if you don't like it, stay away from smokers. At all times.
Fap, fap, fap. Small, but fierce.
I may cross-post this in i_wank since I weighed in, and bitchily. I'm swirl_girlx

I don't have much of a opinion about the i_wank factor of your two comments, but participating in your own posted wank is bad style. Move it to i_wank or stop posting, make up your mind.

One to two comments are almost never deemed i_wank worthy here though, am I right? If I were the OP, I wouldn't have even bothered to point it out. ('Course, my username on lj is the same, so if I were the OP, I wouldn't have had to.)

It is bad form that the comments were toward the bottom, and not at the top (before the wank really got going), though. Yeah. It's one thing if you come back and see wank exploded, and another to spot it and put in two pennies before reporting it.

Depends on what they say, I'd guess. You can become queen of F_W with a one-liner comment when you're only gifted enough :D But no, I know I wouldn't move to i_wank for two comments like hers.

And yeah, it's mostly that it sounded to me like 'I will continue to argue therein' that made me nervous.

Damn, now I've used up all my smoking icons already. I need more.

Yeah, no more comments going forward. Although the temptation is understandable.

You know I saw the original post and just knew, KNEW I tells ya, there would be wanking. Which just amuses me because, bzuh, you can't deny that in an ideal world cigarettes are most definitely a luxury. If anyone was seriously strapped for cash and had a $3 a day Starbucks habit, you know people would be telling them that should be the first thing to go, so... ya know. Just logic, addictive or no.

I wasn't expecting the breastfeeding vs. formula and the cloth diapers to rear their heads in that.

Me either. I really was shocked at how wanky it got and how fast and in unexpected ways.

That surprised me, too...as well as had me sitting on my hands because of the stupidity behind it. Feeding a baby != excessive luxury expenses. Some women use formula because they don't have a choice.

Wow, did that comment get messed up.

*headdesk* Smoking is not a way of life. It's a physically degenerate, ridiculously expensive luxury. You have the right to smoke, and that's fine; everybody has their little indulgences. A stupid habit is not indicative of a stupid person. But, please, PLEASE stop trying to defend the habit as something worthwhile even when you're flat broke. My mother quit through all of her prenancies and later when she went through a period where she didn't have the money to waste on it. It is possible to give it up.

*joins interesting-looking community* *avoids certain flame war, wanks here instead*

I admit the anti-smoking side can get a bit dramatic, but what is the mind-numbing shit from the smokers there? And the ex-smoker. Maaandy may have quit, but she sure doesn't sound like it:

it is no different than renting movies or going out to eat every weekend.

Except for the part where you throw up the present and future health of your lungs, pancreas, etc., and those body parts of those around you to fate. That part's not quite the same.

I've never seen a smoker used their last $10 on a pack of cigarettes instead of milk for the kids, for example. [...] Studies have revealed tobacco addiction is harder to overcome than a heroin or cocaine addiction.

That combination of thoughts makes a lotta sense. Is it a horrible addiction that you would go insane trying to quit, or is it a minor issue you can control?

Decision, plz.

That said, I quit because a)I found out I was pregnant

The quitmeter says "38 weeks."

According to her userinfo, she has two children, the youngest five months old. Biological?

Mmm.

I think someone should make a ticker for the amount of money wasted on baby formula, when breasts are free. And how shitty it is for the baby's health. haha.

Well, THAT'S a crossover!wank. But yeah...feeding your child with formula (especially because circumstances made breastfeeding impossible) is comparable to an entirely free choice to smoke. Right-e-o.

(I don't know at this point if it would be hammering the point too much to say that smoke-related risks to fetuses/infants are at least as high, if not quite a bit higher, than the risks to formula-fed infants.)

"I want to smoke. I can come up with an argument against any valid concern you have, no matter how ridiculous. For your information, you can't tell me I've put a single soul besides myself at any kind of risk because I don't smoke around ANYONE. I LIVE IN A PLASTIC BUBBLE! With internet access! And it re-routes my smoke deep into the bowels of earth!"

*grabs towel* Grrr, I cannot express how much the entitlement steams me.

Idiots, all. I will mention, as an aside, that I once knew someone who had given up both heroin and cigarettes. She said cigarettes was harder, hands down.

On the one hand, yeah, it's your right, on the other, when you put your cigarettes before the health of your children you're an ass and will probably be put in a cut rate hospice by your children when you get the cancer. So I guess it all works out in the end.
