Kibbles and Wank: Meets AAFCO Standards for Nutrition
On dog_lovers, katkia22 has encouraged her daughter to email Iams about PETA's favorite bone and posts Iams' response.

Cue the "IAMZ = SUX0RZ" comments. Along comes northwolf to question that assertion. Naturally, like 99.9% of pet community "debate," wank ensues, whipping up ancient vendettas.

There's plenty of "I'm not doing research for you!" and "She wouldn't read them anyway!" Rozae eventually relents, ignoring the fact that several websites that come up are contrary to their position. Some insanely so.

Of course, you also need "attacks" on someone's pet.

Circular arguments rock, but they become especially tasty when folks focus on the easily cross-referenced Wikipedia definitions of logical fallacies.

"Shun the nonbeliever. Shunnnnnn."

Verbose = SMRT.

I think it's kind of the chimps with typewriters thing. Pound on the keys long enough and hopefully something halfway intelligible will eventually form.

Vegetarian dogs?

Obviously a plot to encourage them to run away from their slave-like oppression.

Vegan dogs, they're like Harmonians in a way.

I don't get the pet food wank.

We had a 16 year old cat that ate Friskies, and then Science Diet Urinary Health once he got old and had some issues with urination.

Once we got multiple cats, we tried different types of food, and settled on whatever comes in a HUGE bag that the cats like the most. (I think the consensus with the cats was Whiskas.)

Our cats are happy and healthy and will live a looong time. Except for the one overweight one...and it's really difficult to fix that when we've got two cats, 4 and 7 lbs who are nibblers and would STARVE if we regulated their mealtimes.

Um, I have nothing germane to add. Except I usually see this food discussion crap on stupidpetowners and it is bloody boring. Most pet debate is bloody boring, actually. If I ever see one more discussion of "My cat eats more expensive food than yours!" it will be three million years too early.

…They're a dog food company. How could they not do animal testing? At some point in the process they do need to feed it to a dog and see if it'll eat it, or they've got a marketing problem.

Better to feed the dog some kind, any kind of food instead of feeding the dog absolutely nothing at all. I got railed at in Target for fifteen minutes by a woman for buying canned Alpo for a dog, until I pointed out that:
A) I'm a college student on VERY limited budget,
and B) the dog wasn't even mine, she belonged to my neighbors with four kids who never bothered to feed her, period, and on whom I'd called the Humane Society three times in as many months.
She left me alone after that, thank God, or I would have had to hit her in the middle of the store.

I've never quite got the reasoning behind animal food arguments. I've fed mine what I know they'll eat and as long as they're healthy and happy that's good enough for me.

My dogs loved the Pasta Plus dog food and my cats will eat any dried food set out for them along with stealing what they can when I'm making dinner. The sight of a cat proudly running off with a cooked breaded shrimp off the baking sheet must be seen to be believed.
