After all that wanking, somebody needs a bath.
Cute Overload is, for those of you who don't spend your time hunting down pictures of adorable duckies and puppies (you weirdoes), an excellent source for awesome animal pictures. But it is also, occasionally, pretty damn wanky.

Consider one of today's offerings: photos of a cat getting a bath.

Lola O. does not approve: this was such a cute to sad scrolldown. cats don't need to be bathed, and pictures of the terror in their eyes as it happens is so not cute.

It is explained by someone who knows the owner that the kitty in question needs to be bathed due to a skin condition, but naturally the conversation doesn't stop there.

CATS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE BATHED - so this attempt to get cute pictures is just darn right cruel.

I know lots of people have given legitimate reasons why cats should be washed, but honestly I think it's so unfair. Our cats don't have problems with hairballs and we've never washed them. I also suspect cats hate the smell of our idea of being clean, they probably prefer their own kitty smell. I'd never put my cat through that kind of stress... And if someone's allergic to cats, why have one?!

Still low-key, but then Sylvia brings the wank. I'm sorry, but who are these morons saying cats are not supposed to be bathed? My dad is a vet and so is my brother. I've had cats all my life.

Cats CAN'T stay TOTALLY clean if you don't wash them. They CAN'T. And sometimes they're really dirty and need to be washed. And guess what? They RELISH in the fact they're clean. They do seem to thank you afterwards.

Cats LOVE being clean. Put this info in your little heads before trying to sound so self-righteous, "oh my God that is soooo cruel". That is not cruel.
Sorry about the tone, but I had to let that out. Can't stand people who say shit about things they know nothing about.

Lola ain't taking that shit lying down. fine. this cat has a skin issue and thus needs to be cleaned. but it is still terrifying for the cat. and NOT cute but sad to watch.

some of the pics in the last month+ are definitely not cute. and really disappointing on this site.

-and just because someone is a vet doesn't mean they are the be all end all of knowlege and authority. all cats have to be cleaned? right. without us, like all the other creatures on this planet, they'd wither away into horrible messes.

And so on. Seriously, nobody wanks like animal lovers wank.

The best comment, however, goes to Carlisa: It's up to the owner of the pussy whether to wash it or not. sheesh!

I wonder what Chancery Stone would say to that.

I admit, I saw that and laughed. I felt bad for the kitty, and I thought it was a touch odd to be taking pictures of your very upset cat... but I'd so do it too. And it was cute, and funny.

Just saying, though, that this part of the Hive Vagina washes regularly.

...I've owned both cats and dogs, and BOTH of them give you that look when you give them a bath. Not seeing what's the big.

(Although, I have never tried to give my cat a bath because a) I have been exceedingly lucky in that he's pretty damn hygenic and has never needed human intervention, and b) he'd eat me first.)

Hahahaha! Ahh, the look on that cat's face - it's a perfect photo of Angst, Anguish and Drama(tm)

However, i think that when the cat really does not want to bath, the owners will notice. Wearily. I certainly noticed the huge, deep scratches on my friends arm after her cat had gotten some oil over himself and needed to take a bath.

That kitty? Looks mostly hilarious and emo.

The photos are from Flickr here, though I definitely prefer the set where the cat's playing ball.

I need to experiment and figure out how he got the color saturated that way. This guy is a *classy* cat photographer.

People need to relax. That cat has the exact same expressions on its face that my dog Zero goes through when we give him a bath, and he's a standard poodle specifically bred to be in water. The fact is that a lot of animals just don't like to be bathed, but frequently it's necessary. Yes, even cats. Some little kids hate taking baths too, and from the way these people are going on you'd think that making them get in the tub is a social services-worthy form of abuse.

The upside is that this whole wank reminds me of the part in Wet Hot American Summer when they jump that camp radio station kid in the mess hall and physically force him to take a shower. XD

Sigh...I will never understand why people can't just "STFU and enjoy the cute!" It seems like every entry on CO lately has someone chiming in with "OMGZ its teh cruel to dress up your doggies!!!111!!" And if said entry includes a pit bull (or any dog that remotely resembles a pit bull), look out.

Dude, that cat doesn't look nearly as upset as my cat when I bathed him. Then again, my cat also managed to claw his way on top of my head.

...those are really nice photographs. I mean, REALLY nice. Wow.

(Also hilarious and cute. But then, I'm a horrible cruel person who, when my cat got her head stuck in a bag of Goldfish crackers, laughed my ass off and took pictures before resucing her.)

Ooh! Scottish Fold! Sweetie.

My cat had a week of getting beneath the oiltank in the basement, so it was either bathe her or let her run around oily, smelly, and possibly toxic. I scruffed her, pinned her to the bottom of the tub, and my mom and I gave her a quick bath.

She still reeked, but at least she wasn't going to lick oil, and she took to it quite well; the only issue was when I released her neck for a bit, thinking she was actually as calm as she played. Yeah, that's why the shower curtain's ripped.

Y'know, wouldn't a good rainstorm be equivalent to a bath? Just an uneducated person's guess here.

Wow... who knew baths were a form of animal cruelty. Chill out people it's not like they are drowning the cat.
anyway, any animal I've ever tried bathe has had about the same "why are you doing this to me?" kinda look on their face even the goat.

I used to bathe the family cat on a fairly regular basis when I was a teenager. And then I'd feel bad because she was all wet and cold, so I'd take the blow dryer to her.

She was surprisingly into it after the first few times.

I hope the wanker never owns a Persian or a Himalayan, it might break their brain to find out that having to bathe goes along with owning the breed. (Mine needs a bath badly right now, too.)

Otherwise, Awwww!!

Wait, so I'm not supposed to bathe my (outdoor *gasp*) cat when he gets into the puddle of oil underneath my neighbor's leaking oil thingy?

Damn! I guess eating oil and tracking it over the house are both good things!

Nevermind the one that climbs into the shower with me and loves getting all soaped up.

That cat looks surprisingly like Puss, when he's turning on the cute.

Course, it also looks like my nine year old trying to get out of a bath. She also needs a bath, but will give you that same emo look. Water! How could you do such a terrible thing to such an innocent creature?
