Abstinence Only: Because God Said So.

Courtesy a friendly neighborhood mousie @ [info]wank_report

On </a></b></a>[info]christianitysex, </a></font></b></a>[info]swisscelt passes along this amusing quote from </a></font></b></a>[info]slacktivist:

Rule of thumb: Whenever you hear the most enthusiastic proponents of abstinence-only sex education saying that sex is "sacred," understand that what they really mean is that sex is profane.

There's some polite, if pointed, back and forth regarding the validity of this statement re: all A-OSE proponents and a tangent on nudity, and it's all polite and non-wanky...

Then </a></font></b></a>[info]starchaser57 chimes in Actually this is a lie. Most of us who are enthusiastic proponents of abstinence only sex education understand quite clearly that sex is was God's idea and meant to be enjoyed frequently within the confines of marriage between a man and a woman only.

We also understand that God's laws are not only the correct way to live but the very best way to live.

Whenever you hear the most enthusiastic proponents of sex when every you want it because God's laws don't apply to us or Paul made it all up so we don't have to obey it, understand that what they really mean is that they want to have sex with anyone they want at any time without any consequences and no conviction for their sin.

Stunningly, people take issue with this proclamation.

Seriously, </a></font></b></a>[info]starchaser57  is wonderful to watch.  She's like a Bible-fueled Ginmar! ("I am God is right. You're wrong." Rinse, repeat)

And then there's </a></b></a>[info]hisprophet, chiming in :

This argument seems very contradictory.
If sex on the whole is not bad, why all of the suffering?
Why is there no rampant disease sweeping us off in other physical activities? Do you really think it's an issue of ignorance about safety?

You go against God's design, it will turn out death. It is no coincidence. Sin affects many people. It does not matter if someone believes in gravity, you gonna falli f you jump.

This is more fun (for an outsider) to read than it has any right to be!

Edited for grammar, some missing HTML tags, and hisprophet's correct gender.
