There is trouble in youcantwrite, but then, there always is. For those not in the know, youcantwrite is a rating comm. For journals. With that in mind...

tequilaprophet posts an in-depth review of youngraconteur, repeatedly berating his/her/its victim of the day for being "a fucking liar." Doubtless a surprise for him, his tactic of using the f-word repeatedly doesn't seem to quite catch flies the fancy of other members. In other word--

YOU ARE NOT FUNNY AND YOU POSTURE AS IF YOU ARE.

Don't stoop to such barbarism. When did YOU apply, anyway? Do you happen to have a link to your application? You're being checked!

I like this best: You shitting me, motherfucker? Curse words are just as expressive as vanilla ones. Hex your 'barbarism', and copulate with its excrement. Mind you, I'm not sure if you can hex a word into excreting, so...

The cussing has all the bad ass charm of a school marm.

tequilaprophet, as I understand it from hotlavamonster's posts, has been on this "yeehaw me funny look mom" stint for quite a while. Watch the comm; by its nature, it generates splooge.

Wow, that community like LJFlameCup with added grammar and less racial slurs. Wonderful.

*browses tequilaprophet's other posts* Somebody actually spends the time and effort to type essay-thingies with added pictures in them, so to 'review' some random stranger's online journal?

Ahhh, the hilarity! I'm tempted to make a journal full of Mac Wellman monologues and submit it for their approval. xD

I don't get what this community is about. Is it like [info]hogwarts_elite, but instead of judging your tl:dr application they judge your journal? Do they at least have shinny contests?

Yup, you got it.

OT- by any chance is your icon snagable? It makes the L&O geek in me happy.

Sure! Just credit either [info]pikacharma or [info]casa_de_pika.

And what kind of contests?

Woowoo! Can do. Thanks!

You get the pleasure of mocking people who apply after you get approved as being 'good'. I don't know if that's really something to be considered a prize... seeing as I can do that here and I don't have to go through the crap of being 'approved' as long as I'm not picky on waiting around for the free account option. xD

Ya know... everytime I see one of these online journal judging things, I have to go look through the members' journals. And I'm never disappointed when looking for pretentiousness.

Funny, I always thought the point of a journal was to write down your personal thoughts, not to cater to what others think you should be doing. Naturally this line of thought becomes void when you're talking about people who actually are writing for an audience.

I think this is the community I sumbited my LJ to for review about a year ago. If I remember correctly, they called me a liar as well saying that the only funny part they saw in my LJ must have been stolen from someone else. There was absolutely no consructive words given until about three days later and by then I didn't care any more because the novelty of the thing had worn off and I was bored with it. I was basically told, in the end, that I should not write at all because I didn't write what they wanted to read. No attention was paid to the fact that I use spellcheck on my posts, know about a little thing called 'paragraphs', and know my grammar rules.

In short- yeah, it's a reviewing community to see if your LJ meets their standards for being 'good'. Kinda pointless but it's an interesting way to waste time.

This wank makes me wonder whatever happened to the bookyoucrew. They always set the standard for pretension over the written word. Seeing amateurs like this at it makes me strangely nostalgic.

Whoa! They aren't around anymore? Damn, I vaguely remember considering posting there once, until I remembered what my username is. Lit-crit snobs and sci-fi don't mesh, generally.

I wonder if the other "youcrew" communities are still there or not.

Oh darn, this is what I get for cleaning out my bookmarks isn't it?

Thank goodness they're still around. Whenever I start to feel like a pretentious art school ass, I just go and read them for an hour and feel like a fine upstanding human being.

What do all these pretenious people on LJ do? Purposely try to think of every possible kind of rating comm so they can have yet another faucet to act like an elitist asshole?

So far I've seen, literay tastes, film tastes, music tastes, physical appearences, and I'm sure somewhere out there, there is a rating comm for dietary choices.

"OMG11! You eat cow meat and drink soda??!1! Fuck off N00b!!"

Upon further inspection of the wank, I'm going to say it's a bad day. Oh, Ty. Ty, Ty, Ty. What would Malcolm say?

He does, however, have an excellent point about youngraconteur. Much as with people who claim to be big name fans and self-professed not-racists, if you have to say it...it's probably not true.
