Ah, fuck. Someone got childfree wank all over my customer suckery again :P akarui_kibuno comes to customers_suck to post her pet peeves about her fellow Eurodisney customers. harmonyfb suggests she take it to childfree, since akarui_kibuno obviously hates children. sevenday fans the flames: First point: Sure it's aimed primarily at children, but the adults are the ones with the money. Disney is really trying to get the PARENTS to bring their children. If she, an adult, pays to get into the park, and decides she wants a picture with Mickey or whomever... It's no different than if a toddler wants to see the character costumes. A costume is a costume. Just because a kid wants to get a picture/talk to/hug a character does not automatically bump them above the adult who also wants to. I personally think lines are a good idea, for the reason the OP stated. Point two: Why did you reccomend that the OP "take this to childfree" -- just because they made a comment about the oddity of bringing very young children to Disneyland? I'm sorry, but that's not what 'childfree' is about, really. Sure, Disney doesn't mind if you bring your very small child to the park. More money for them, in theory. As long as there are bodies in the park, they get paid. That doesn't mean it's 100% appropriate to bring them... To expand on that last point: when children are under age three and you take them to the park, it's for YOU and not for the kid. MOST kids under age 3 won't remember it. (One poster talks about her three year old further down - there are exceptions to every rule). I went to Disneyland with my family when I was about 2. I don't remember a damned thing. All I have of it is a poster thing Dad bought and the ticket with the dates stamped on it. My older siblings remember, but of course they were older than me. If a parent shows up with a 2 year old or whatever, and they also have older children, then it's perfectly fine (in my opinion) to have the tot along. You can't very well bring child A and not child B if both parents went on the trip. However, if child A, the tot in question, is the ONLY kid you have, it just... kind of defeats the point of going to Disneyland. Sure you can get pictures of cute wittle Ashleigh or whomever, but you're the only one who's likely to remember it. And Ashleigh is not going to be very happy about not being able to remember it unless you go again at a later date. (I was incredibly pissed at my parents for not waiting until I was old enough to remember when I found out that we had gone to Disneyland. Oh well.) Bringing a one year old or a two year old to Disneyland when you have no other kids is just a bit foolish -- you can't go on rides together because someone has to watch the baby, so on. There's "no, 2 year olds WILL remember Disneyland years later"; "ALL childfreers hate children"; someone who is not the OP saying "I shall again reiterate my position by saying that if you cant post any nice comments dont post any at all"...and that's all, really, and a good time was had by all, unless you hate children. You don't hate children, do you? |
