dear Jesus. (no pun intended)
On Yahoo!News, there are boards accompanying every news article written. One of these boards is the one for this article regarding the Ten Commandments monument in Alabama.

Over eighty-one thousand messages later (and growing), we've determined that Conservative power is necessary to clean up liberal slime! The Religious Reich is turning America into a fundamentalist theocracy! And then there's this one, which I'm sure would make sense if...er...it was translated or something?

We have Alabama=incest references, accusations of religious conservatives needing sex change operations, smiting, disease calling, Confederacy praising, Muslim insulting, Christian insulting, and more! I can't read anymore for fear of my eyeballs melting, but you can take a crack at it here.

When I see stuff like this I don't know whether to laugh or run screaming into the night. They *all* sound like a bunch of nutters though I kinda lean toward the Christian Right being a little scarier because I think their agenda is pretty frightening. God (heh) knows us perverted, filthy gays will be first up against the wall when the Revalation Revolution comes.

Yowza.

My ex worked for one of the conservative think tanks in DC.

He, a jew, was praying for the rapture.

See, it would be an instant promotion.

I agreed with him on that logic.

It's tinhats at work. I wonder how long till they discover the PR devils?

Somehow, Yahoo's boards tend to attract idiots from all walks of life. Coincidentally, I'm guessing they also attract a lot of people who post at Fark.com.

Oops! I just poisoned the well!

The difference? I don't think I've ever seen a Fark thread go to thousands of comments like this one did. There, people at least get tired of the argument eventually.

And start talking about b00bies or how they'd hit that.

Oh my god. News message boards are the worst. When I was 14 I posted in response to an article on gun legislation--mentioning my age, mind--and my thread was promptly flamed by scary far-right fundies.

They called me a Judas Goat (?!) and an impostor, among other things, and I got a couple death threats. Apparently 14-year-olds aren't supposed to be able to string together a sentence or know who McCarthy was, so I was secretly a 56-year-old. Or something. But yeah, making death threats at a 14-year-old, that's just precious.

Yes, I'm bitter about news message boards. *cries* It scarred me for life. I'm still afraid of goats.

Just my rather... odd... two cents.

One Yahoo board dealt with yet another 'mom beats her kids' story. The wank was thick and runny. Mainly because of those childfree who posted and as anyone knows, if you don't want kids, you are satan incarnate.
