Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
This one started several days ago, when someone on stupidpetowners snarked a post from note_to_cat. [info]squid_ink comments on getting the cat spayed soon. Someone else comments
"BABY! Whoa. AWESOME! Your cat can wait, because as soon as you have the money, even if it's in a few years, I know you will do it. You're a great mom!"
The mod, [info]fordarkness, responds. [info]squid_ink Thinks it's directed at her, and goes, basically "heffa did not!" The mod tries to correct her, but she keeps missing the point.

The wank is later posted on drama_awesome. [info]squid_ink proves that she's unable to read the top of the page. The mod begins losing her temper. [info]squid_ink continues to defend herself. (Hey, look, she activated that law about condescension!)

The members of stupid_free have been following the events through several f-locked posts, by fordarkness herself. The latest is not by her, but reveals that she's been posting all over the place. Such as ask_me_anything. And she still doesn't get it.

Please, no furbashing.

That attitude's about par for the course over there. Essentially if you can't afford every single vet visit for whatever reason big or small it's 'ZOMG YOU SHOULDN'T OWN A PET'. While I've been in some financial straights at times over the years, when I had to take my pets to the vet for something major like they're sick or spaying/neutering, I've always been able to work out a payment plan with the vet who's always been cool about it since who really wants to go through all that collections paperwork.

I mentioned that once over there and had a couple people agree with me and many take the route of 'oh well that's fine for YOU but not every vet does that' that made me wonder if anyone ever actually bothered to ask thier vet in the first place about it.

It's like these people forget that life happens. Sometimes you can start out financially stable and end up...unstable...

According to some of them you are supposed to plan the next 20 years(depending on the animal), so you still have to plan being unstable. Try to explain that something might be out of nowhere, but no, that cant happened, they wont accept that. So you still need to have a plan for those "out of nowhere" problems.

Also, it's like they can't shop around for a vet that can make a deal. Not all vets charge the price for the same service. Most avain vets are fairly expensive, but the one I go to isn't because she owns her own clinic and building, and has done so for nearly 15 years. So her relative costs are pretty low, compared to a vet that has to rent space.
