UFO wank!
A UFO Guy threatens to leave the fandom burn his research because the media, in the form of two guys he never met who made a silly movie not directed at him, doesn't take him seeeeeeeeeeeeeriously.

Even the True Believers think he's being a great big drama queen. Most of them, anyway.

Naturally, like any good BNF scientist, he listened to the pleas of the fangirls masses, spared his fics research, and went back to appearing on Public Television. (Third topic down)

My editor once got e-attacked by the Bigfoot Believers Society...that was pretty funny, too.

I was totally into UFOs and the Loch Ness Monster and all that. When I was 12.

I still like to hold out hope that the Loch Ness Monster is actually a plesiosaur, and that Mokele-Mbembe is actually a sauropod dinosaur.

Sorry, your post just made me semi-nostalgic, I guess. :)

I love cryptozoology as a sort of cultural, mythological thing. Unfortunately, it's a cardinal sin in some of the back hollows of Interwebbia to not unconditionally believe (or at least actually use the scientific method and not just the dumbed down OMGZ WERE CREDIBLE version).

There's been one user on the LJ cryptozoology community that pops up with passive aggressive comments like "Sometimes I feel like the field of cryptozoology mainly involves who shouts 'HOAX' the loudest." I await the day someone takes the bait.

Aww fuck. I was hoping the "two guys he never met" would be Penn and Teller. I guess that would only work if it was a TV show, though, not a movie.

*loves Penn and Teller*

The cryptozoology community had a gigantic tantrum over P&T, too.

I love those men.

I have a massive het-crush on their show. I mean, yeah, they're sometimes a as light on the incisive analysis as the people they're bashing, but they're so much fun I don't even care.

Oh..this has absolutely made my day.

I do believe in some of the paranormal, the UFOs, Ghosts and such, but some of the other believers just make me near die with laughter with how batshit they are.

Oh man. Reminds me of growing up with my dad. He's a big UFO geek himself.

One time, the pseudo-investigative show 'Encounters' was pre-empted due to a local sports game, and my Dad got really angry and said it was a government ploy to keep the truth off the air.

He would also watch NASCAR every week because he was totally convinced he could make certain drivers crash with his mind. Hell, for all I know, he still does all that shit today.

That's, like, the best reason I've ever heard for watching NASCAR.
