Breastfeeding in public (OMFG in front of people, even 'minors') is not illegal, infact in many states it is protected by law and is Illegal to ask a mother to stop feeding her child. Breastfeeding is not obscene nor is it explicit... you can have pictures of arses, and you can have pictures of boobs as long as the actual nipple (not areola) is showing, infact you could walk around in public with only your nipples covered and you cant get arrested for indecent exposure.

	LJ isn't forcing them to get rid of the icon though, only making it so that it is not the default. If they want they want they could click on 'No default' and just choose the boobie icon each time they post and it would be okay. Besides if they don't like LJ rules they can use another site. The problem is that what LJ has done is deemed something that is not offensive as offensive.

You act as if there is some objective standard for what's offensive. There isn't.

You act as if preventing someone from using a breastfeeding icon prevents them from breastfeeding. It doesn't.

You act as if LJ has some obligation to host content other than any-damn-content-it-pleases. It doesn't.

On top of which, no one is preventing these people from using the icons in any case.

I'm playing the world's smallest violin for these poor oppressed souls.

	Actually some people DO find it a bit offensive. I don't wanna see some woman's naked breasts in the middle of a mall or a restaurant any more than I want to see some random guy's dick hanging out in the same situation. Then either take the baby somewhere private or use one of those little privacy blankets so the rest of the world doesn't have to see your breast.

It's really not that difficult, and that way everyone is happy.

(For the record, I have no issue with mothers who want to breastfeed in public as long as they use a privacy blanket thing to cover themselves. That's fine. I just don't want to see a naked breast while I'm eating, shopping or whatever.)

Wow, you so missed my point completely. LJ gets to decide what will and will not be done with their website. Doesn't matter how beautiful and natural people think breastfeeding is.

And to counter your stupid parellel to it being legal, killing is illegal, but we can still have movies portraiting it. Because reprentations, like icons, and movies, are remarkably different than actually doing it.

	However, when the read the TOS and the FAQ, the FAQ said that default userpics which were sexual or had graphic violence weren't allowed. They changed it to nudity after people started pointing out that breastfeeding pictures aren't sexual.
