LJ Abuse vs Boob Nazis
[info]cali4niachef is informed by LJ Abuse her default icon is inappropriate and to cease using it by the 23rd or face having her account suspended.

Boob Nazis. LJ Abuse. Breastfeeding Icons.

I think we can all see where this is going. ([info]booju_mooju first of all it seems.)

Once the anti-breastfeeding comms get hold of this it should really take off.

Edit the first Thanks to [info]quickfade Apparently [info]hardvice is responsible Icons in comments NSFW.

Edit the second Thanks to a mousie. [info]cf_hardcore join the party.

Edit the third Thanks to [info]freezer It hits [info]metaquotes.

Edit the forth [info]stupid_free weigh in. And [info]fuckyoulist makes an appearance too.

Edit the fifth Just how much further can it spread? As far as retarded_icons, blackfolk and feminist apparently.

Edit the sixth [info]hardvice shows solidarity with the [info]boob_nazis. And [info]magdalene74 has a new lj approved breastfeeding icon.

And to think when I originally posted this I was worried it wasn't wanky enough.

Edit the seventh Annnnnnnnnnd here's anti-feminist joining in the fun.

Edit the eighth Predictably - Exposing LJ Abuse

And yet, somehow, indecent exposure, breastfeeding, and/or obscenity laws still have nothing to do with the LJ TOS.

The problem is that what LJ has done is deemed something that is not offensive as offensive.

LJ isn't forcing them to get rid of the icon though, only making it so that it is not the default. If they want they want they could click on 'No default' and just choose the boobie icon each time they post and it would be okay.

Besides if they don't like LJ rules they can use another site. It's not like they're being forced to use LJ.

The problem is that what LJ has done is deemed something that is not offensive as offensive.

You act as if there is some objective standard for what's offensive. There isn't.

You act as if preventing someone from using a breastfeeding icon prevents them from breastfeeding. It doesn't.

You act as if LJ has some obligation to host content other than any-damn-content-it-pleases. It doesn't.

On top of which, no one is preventing these people from using the icons in any case.

I'm playing the world's smallest violin for these poor oppressed souls.

Actually some people DO find it a bit offensive. I don't wanna see some woman's naked breasts in the middle of a mall or a restaurant any more than I want to see some random guy's dick hanging out in the same situation.

There are times and places for that sort of thing, but out in public is not one of them.

Sorry, you're not the hungry child, you don't get to decide what's offensive. There is a live human being who requires the breast to be somewhat exposed, there is no one requiring the dick to be hanging out.

Then either take the baby somewhere private or use one of those little privacy blankets so the rest of the world doesn't have to see your breast.

It's really not that difficult, and that way everyone is happy.

(For the record, I have no issue with mothers who want to breastfeed in public as long as they use a privacy blanket thing to cover themselves. That's fine. I just don't want to see a naked breast while I'm eating, shopping or whatever.)

Who gets to decide what is and is no0t offensive to everyone else? Offense is in the perception of the offended, and I for one do not care to have you tell me what is and is not 'offensive' to me.

In other words, it's ok for you to mandate what is considered inoffensive to everyone else.
