The Ongoing Saga of the Boob Nazis
So we've all noticed the Boob Nazi wank trend going on lately. Well today, the Boob Nazis FINALLY take on...the CFers! Dun-dun-DUNNN.

As some of you know, the Boob Nazis have decided to delete their LJs for one day over the breastfeeding icon wank. Well, the CFers found out about this, and decided to stage a "counter protest." They plan to update all their journals and make comments for every journal they see deleted on their f-list.

Well, the Boob Nazis found out about it.

That's not all! The CFers found out about the Boob Nazis finding out!

Not the reglious wankalypse I had been hoping to see, but it's a fairly good substitute.

ETA: Some of the non-deleters give us their thoughts on ~~yaoi~~ the wank. Meanwhile, the boob_nazis community mod is pissed about the deletions!

I *finally* put my finger on what was bothering me so much about this whole mess. All these people keep going, "But breastfeeding is natural! Babies need to eat! Blah blah blah!" Which, yes, if the kid needs to eat, the kid needs to eat. But, um, an icon of you showing off what a good breastfeeder you are doesn't really *do* anything in that regard. 100x100 pixels don't feed your kid, or give it, y'know, antibodies and stuff, or really do anything except show off what a GOOD MOTHER you are to the whole LJ world.

In summary:

Actually breastfeeding your baby = providing child with nutrition.

Icon of you breastfeeding your baby = OMG I'M SUCH A GOOD MOMMY LOOKIT ME LOOKIT ME!!!!

	These women are in for a world of shock when their kids get old enough to voice opinions to the world, and those opinions include the words "Mom! Shut up! You're embarrassing me! Yeah, and I keep seeing comments saying, "but we breastfeed DISCREETLY in public!"

...because having an icon of the act is being very, very discreet, and not drawing attention to it at all. I think the reason I find bf-ing icons vaguely unsettling is because I use my icons to draw attention to an aspect of myself and my likes/hobbies/fandoms that I like and want to represent me. Wanting the very fact that you breastfeed to represent you online? Kinda weird, IMO. But maybe I'm projecting.

	No, you're right, it is strange. I mean, it's not like the kids have given consent to have such an intimate moment, not to mention pictures of themselves, put on the INTERNET.
