Pls, no baby seal bashing. ;_;
On [info]ohnotheydidnt, somebody posts and article (with video) where PETA attacks Beyonce Knowles for using fur in her latest clothing line. Do I really have to spell out what happens next?

[info]sparklediamant just wants PETA to STFU, which prompts a nice, wanky debate about people not caring. My particularly favorite comment in that wank has to be [info]distilledvanity's outrage.

Then [info]guitargirl33 posts...something, but goodness if I know what the hell she's talking about. But as a bonus, [info]distilledvanity (am I the only one who finds her user name stupidly pretentious?) simply can't let it go.

[info]jamieaqua finally really gets the shit stirring with her Declaration of Furindependence. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all PETA posts wank equally."

The wank gets really fun with [info]bluetheend copy/pasts a link from PETA that claims the protestors had actually won a dinner with her.

And, oh, so much fun, and it still has room to grow! :-D

(Post a new comment)

Must resist urge to gratuitously wank 'pon PETA.

[info]lovewasted: At least humans have choices.

This whole thing reminds me of that episode of Family Guy where Death is out on a date with the pet shop girl, and she's blathering on about how animals don't have war and you can't hug your children with nuclear arms.

And then Death killed her.

The people are the pet shop girls and I want to be Death.

Animals don't have "war" in the sense that fish don't have "water." Their entire lives are a war for survival. They might not fight over the same things we do, but they do fight each other, often.

And hello, ants.

Domestic cows are stupid beasts that would die without humans to take care of them.

Cows are raised by humans for meat.

PETA really pisses me off, because you can't be an animal rights activist without being associate with their brand of crazy. What most PETA people fail to recognize is that many of the animals they want to "save from opreshun" (livestock, pets) wouldn't even exist if humans hadn't domesticated them. I'm all for more humane conditions for meat animals and pets, but I'm not about to say that no one should have a dog or eat beef.

Oh, and just to lighten the mood, here's an icon.

They are alive just like we are so why is it ok to treat them like horribly? Because they are not the same species?

OK, I don't think it's OK to treat animals horribly (though I highly suspect my definition differs strongly from hers, even if I don't eat meat.)

But I hate when people imply thinking animals shouldn't have the same rights as people is some kind of species-based "prejudice." They're animals and not people. There is not an insignificant difference.

Most of the world goes to bed hungry one night of of three, has no clean drinking water, and their babies die from diseases you could prevent with over the counter medicine from the local Walgreens, and they are bitchin' about the suffering of rodents!?!

We need to care for the creatures that share our earth, but these brats need to get beaten bloody with a clue stick.

They are animals. Freakin' ani-mals. Not little oppressed people in furcoats.

They are /not/ our equals. They are /not/ human being, and that actually does friggin' Matter.

There is a difference between activism and stupidity (which was crossed over about five miles back.)

These are the same idiots that 'liberated' a mink farm in Britain, which let hundreds of vicious animals into the countryside where they killed family pets, ruined crops, attacked humans, and ended up being shot for the most part.

Ugh. I read those articles about PETA "euthanising" animals and family pets and it made me sick. My dogs are pampered up to the eyeballs and I can only think of how upset I'd be if some crazy activist killed them because of whatever cruelty they envisioned in keeping them as pets. They must see how hypocritical that is? You can't condone cruelty to humans in murdering something they love, and be rabidly against animal cruelty.

Also, I am ashamed to be anonymous with the people here coming out of the woodwork to belittle all the human suffering going on in the world. I mean, you could even argue that humans are just a more evolved animal, so if you're campaigning for animal rights you must agree that humans also have rights.

I wonder what PETA would say about other, more practical animal protection/conservation/ecology organizations such as SPCA, WCS, WWF (that's World Wildlife Fund), and JGI (the Jane Goodall Institute).

I am all for saving the animals and protecting them from cruelty and all that fun stuff. What really gets me is that the nutters are all about not eating meat because it's cruel, but did they never stop to think of how the vegetables feel? Vegetables have feelings too!

If we weren't meant to eat meat, we wouldn't have teeth or digestive systems that could masticate and digest it.

Won't someone please think of the vegetables?

The disturbing truth is that PETA is actually a front for an organization of humanity's greatest enemy. That enemy is *bears*. Their objective is to guilt us into taking what they consider our rightful place in the food chain--in their bellies. The crazy anonymice are not mice at all, but rather bears loosely trained on how to use keyboards. That's right. First they take our honey and picnic baskets, and now they are after our Internet. Fight back against our would-be bear oppressors. Eat a double bacon burger while wearing snake skin boots and sitting on a leather couch. It's the American way.
