little_details wank: Rape! Over at little_details, dartmouthtongue makes a post recommending a movie as a source of good material on how to write a realistic rape scene. The post includes a link to the IMDB page for the movie, and that's it. funkyturtle is traumatized!: the word "rape" is a trigger word for many peopleplease put it behind a cutnot doing so is vastly inconsiderate and downright rottenthank youPeople wonder at funkyturtle's sensitivity and how the topic might be brought up without offending her delicate sensibilities. Funkyturtle screams rape! harassment and leaves the internets community. Tiny, but tasty!

PTSD/Trigger/Panic Attack Info and GoodbyeI love this list. I've loved the information I've found on it. I've loved interacting with you all. I have repeatedly requested a basic nettiquette observance that is in place in most lists and communities online, of putting triggering words and topics behind a cut with a warning. Since [info]kutsuwamushi has stated that "if just the mention of the word is too upsetting for you, this community is not for you. I really do not want to see any more of these types of comments from you." I am unfortunately going to have to leave.I leave you with the following little details which may be useful for your writing, and may just give you information you don't have or be aware of. It's particularly useful for anyone dealing with horror, mystery, suspense, wanting to add depth to characters or wanting to explain someone's bizarre reaction to a seemingly normal, non-threatening situation. It is something I deal with every day, and something that happens to me when I encounter references to, or images of, non-consensual sex.<snip lots of basic information about panic attacks>If ever the moderation of this community decides to encourage people to be courteous to each other regarding sexual assault, violence towards animals, and other triggering topics, I would love to come back. Sadly, my own mental health does not permit me to be able to stay in an environment like this one where the mods do not wish to support a trigger-safe environment. That's their choice. It's their community and I respect their rules, even if that means I must go.Goodbye everyone. I had a lovely time while I was here and I enjoyed the community. I hope you all continue writing. Your posts have enriched my awareness of many things and the friends I've made through this list are precious to me.Take care and, whatever you do, do not stop writing.
it only hurts me, reacting to something so pitifulas the powerless words of an ignorant fool
