Food wank? Yes indeed.
I mostly lurk at the LJ food_porn community since I'm still a beginner cook. And just the other day I was thinking whistfully about the communities on my list and how none of them ever seemed to spawn wank. Especially this community, because how can you get wanky about food?

Yet somehow stickemup has managed to do just that.

It all starts when futurology posts a (delicious looking) recipe to the group, noting in the subject that it has 86 calories/serving.

Stickemup is upset that people are posting "recipes for anorexics."

Oikade deleted their comment, but apparently it was calling stickemup out on hir rudeness, because s/h/it replies I don't need to be courteous and being banned wouldn't matter 'cause it's the goddamned internet!

And then in the epitome of maturity, stickemup mentions the OP's user info and friends list, where apparently the OP is a moderator of some form of anorexia group, hence the anorexic accusation to begin with.

This probably wouldn't have been wanky if stickemup had made hir case and left, but s/h/it just keeps coming back!

stickemup seriously seems like either a troll or a grudge wanker. What an idiot.

After all, anorexics are the only people who ever count calories. [/sarcasm] What an idiot.

You mean I've been anorexic all these years and didn't even know it? Well damn, and here I could've had another disorder to add to the list of "Things I can use to justify my being an asshole on the internet."

Yes, heaven forbid people post the nutrition info for a foodstuff with the recipe! I wonder how stickemup is in a supermarket, because the majority of the products have GASP a calory count on them! OH NOES!

I've seen anorexics concerned about the calorie count of sperm. I think 86 calories is a bit much for them.

I love how someone earnestly explains to the OP how the word "calorie" might be triggering to someone recovering from an eating disorder. Cause you'd *never* expect to find a trigger for your eating disorder in a community called food_porn.

This really pisses me off because stickemup makes it sound like counting calories is some anorexic thing. I lost 60 pounds (without starving myself at all), and part of how I did it was counting calories. Calories in vs. calories out, after all. You definitely don't have to put the calorie content in a recipe, but it is helpful to people watching their weight or what they eat (NOT just anorexics). And that is a lot of people, because virtually everyone watches what they eat in some way. There are very few people who can stuff fatty foods and rich desserts in their mouths day in and day out without gaining weight. It is just information, jesus christ.

And I really hate the fact that s/h/it seems offended that there are people out there who DO watch their weight/health, and don't glorify gluttony and obesity. Oh noes, the numbers at the bottom of that recipe, they offend me so!!!!1

Besides...86 calories for soup? That's hardly an anorexic soup. I'm a pro; I can make soup with 20 calories per 8 ounces wham-bam.

I think the problem is that Stickemup has spotted all the pro-ana groups in futurology's user info.

Now, why on earth she went rummaging around in her user info to start with? Who the hell knows. Counting calories certainly isn't anorexic, and neither is the recipie. Perhaps Stickemup recognised her from somewhere else? Whatever it was, it doesn't particularly excuse her asshattery...

(speaking as a diabetic currently facing a huge pile uninspiring of broccoli)

Not ana by any sane measure, but as I read through the recipe it came to me how very well that would work as a base for a very low calorie sorbet base (the alcohol making it possible to avoid the high sugar content of most sorbets). Whci would cut the per-serving calorie count by a third, as the stuff would expand in the ice-cream freezer...

I do Moderate Ana_Friends because I am a recovered Anorexic.

"Recovered anorexic"... One would assume that means she's seen the dangers and errors of the anorexic... uh... "lifestyle", and yet the ana_friends community doesn't seem to be a support group for recovered anorexics that helps them cope as much as it seems to be a group for current anorexics who bitch about gaining half a pound and how they ZOMG binged on half a donut. (Forgive me, but I've got familial history with anorexia, so these pro-ana people make me go >.<;;;;)

Granted, stickemup is a fine example of a troll who makes me giggle, but futurology still makes me go kinda ¬_¬.
