Itty bitty feminist wank
Over on [info]metaquotes, [info]linesof_light's mildly entertaining and somewhat wanky post to a feminism community gets metaquoted. It's strongly worded, opening with "Adult Women do not have to look like Toddlers in order to be 'Hot'," and continuing with "(...) but then I realized that I'm a lesbian and sort of think your culture of patriarchal, heternormative brainwashing does not apply to me (...)". The rant is pretty much along the same lines.

The denizens of metaquotes aren't ready to welcome the rant with open arms. In spite of this, they're more or less unwanky about their disagreement with the original sentiment of the post... at least, to start off with.

I agree with her underlying message that people shouldn't be forced to conform to any standard because straight men (or anyone else) says so.

Here's the thing, though. I'm a dyke, like she is. I consider myself feminist (and belong to f_r, but didn't comment there as per the community rules regarding supportiveness.) I sometimes shave and I sometimes don't. When I say, "I sometimes don't," I mean, I go out in public, go to my coed gym, etc...with shorts on, proudly showing off my unshaved legs. And y'know what? NEVER ONCE has any man said anything to me about it. Never once have they made insulting comments or given me uncomfortable looks. Once, I had an first-generation Asian immigrant woman (description given to show that she isn't officially part of the patriarchy) ask me why I didn't wax. But she was doing my toenails at the time and I think she was trying to sell me waxing services. In any case, my point is, when I don't shave I haven't had anyone make me feel uncomfortable.

Nice to know i'm a brainwashed tool of the patriachy to prefer shaved over non-shaved.

I thought being a feminist was about wanting choices, not bitching and condescending about the choices of other woman.

Under the weight of such crushing cruelty, [info]linesof_light crumples like a wet paper bag, then proceeds to wank all over the place as she very quickly flips her shit.

EDIT: ah hell, she's started deleting her posts. At one point she told [info]hauntermooneyes to die in a cancer ward. :(

EDIT2: Looks like the deletion has stopped (after being mocked for it). Teh current funy is happening in this thread -- [info]linesof_light pulls the rape card and tries to end the discussion with a "checkmate, fucker," but [info]therikkster just, like, totally doesn't GET it, tee hee! [info]therikkster and [info]yesindeedsir merrily poke holes in Lines' logic in the ensuing mini-thread.

EDIT3: Aaaaaand it appears her journal has been bahleet0red. But not before making a post to [info]feminist_rage, which [info]doomsday helpfully screencapped before it too was bahleet0red!

EDIT29387524398024: A mousie helpfully pointed out a post over in [info]anti_feminism made about [info]linesof_light's rant. Apparently [info]linesof_light made more waves than even the [info]metaquotes crew knew about -- herself included, as she's not currently telling the [info]anti_feminism people to die in cancer wards and challenging them to street fights with broken bottles and catheters.

EDIT585.99999999 with a barline over it: The [info]metaquotes post has been baleeted, but [info]wankaholic saved teh funy!

Things I Have Learned:
- Posting in public does not mean open for criticism
- Criticism is a tool of the patriarchy
- Ending a post with "Checkmate, fucker" is a bad idea, not only because it is horrendously obnoxious, but also because it will inevitably lead to somebody completely torching your ass with logic.

This wank has been brought to you by the number 8, because it resembles testicles if you turn your head sideways.
