Go, go, Emily!

Whoring husband cheats on wife with her best friend. Thus begins her 14 days of revenge. You can check out her blog which follows her progress.

Be sure to check out the billboard she had put up. (click through on the photo)

Over-the-top revenge fantasies come to life.

Edit: Maybe not?

There are actually two billboards, one in New York and one in LA, which has led the people who are into those kind of things to peg it as a viral marketing campaign.

UPDATE: it's an ad for a CourtTV show, which seems just lame enough to be believable.

Sigh.

I'm betting that it's some "26 year old marketing twat" like the Gawker post says. I really hope this comes back to bite said ad agency on the ass, whatever.

Yea, reading thru that blog it just seems too conveniently set up. All she talks about are the hubby and the best friend? nah, not buying it. I smell something fishy and I showered today.

It is not nice to make other people laugh so hard they shoot water out their noses, young lady. Especially when keyboards and monitors become involved.

Okay, I read the blog and immediately I thought "Msscribe".

I saw the lavish lifestyle being dropped in not-so-subtly, oh-so-twee witticisms and sassiness, and this kind of pervasive soullessness that only comes from the imitation of life, as opposed to life itself. It was sassy and articulate, like the babydykes post or the one in which she sees a former friend working as a waiter, and thought "how can anyone be so fatuous and snobbish in reality"? They can't: this is what antisocial assholes think human emotions and experiences are like.

The wank is completely all over the MeFi post. The arguments with ChasFile about what is and what isn't "viral" marketing is annoying me. If you've worked for more than a week in any media you know that advertising pays the bills. Therefore, you're supposed to avoid printing articles that suggest that car dealerships may not have the consumer's best interest in mind or if the newspaper's owner's son comes in with information about his new shopping center development, it gets printed above the fold and as the big headline. Media has morphed into a way to sell whatever needs to be sold. So there. *cleans off*

Oh, for God's sake.

I just went to the blog and saw "her" commentary on the billboard:

"I put it up near Stephen's office so everyone would see what a scumbag he is!"

...the place where that billboard REALLY is, is on the Lower East Side of New York. And unless you're talking about a barista, a bartender, an artist, or an extra from the cast of Rent, that is nowhere near any concievable office. The LES is a neighborhood run rampant with indy bars and trendoid boutiques.

I realize it's a really silly complaint, but it has always bothered me when someone doesn't even put any effort into their attempts at vermisillitude.

The wine thing has actually been done though - in the UK, by a fantastic woman who was peeved off in a real-life situation and did a milk round of her neighbours with the contents of her husband's wine cellar. She also sold off loads of his stuff and, IIRC, trashed his car.

It was wonderful - particularly as she was a very county type, the kind of woman you wouldn't expect to do that at all.
