Gardening Wank--I never thought I'd see the day!
Since I almost never update this journal--

Surfing the forums at Gardenweb, I came across Lisalj. http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/roses/msg0713392730448.html?74

Turns out that when she ordered from reputable rose vendor Roses Unlimited she odered a rose called 'Coral Carpet.' The vendor therefore send her the rose she ordered. Alas, Roses Unlimited forgot their special Vulcan mind melding and thus did not know, Lisalj actually wanted the rose "Coral Flower Carper.' Oops.

Well, the posters at garden web are pretty straightforward about it.

Lisa, I don't understand why you would think RU should send you another rose. You ordered the wrong rose, so the vendor is not responsible for replacing it. Next time check HelpMeFind.com for help with rose names. Google is not a reliable source in this regard.

Lisa, I know you are upset and disappointed, but this misunderstanding comes more from your assuming and lack of research than anything else. Type in "Coral Carpet" at HelpMeFind.com and you'll get the Ben Williams rose that they sold to you. So you see, RU did not send you a mis-marked rose and therefore while I'm sorry for your mistake I don't see that they owe you anything

Trospero seals the deal : In your own words: you ordered 'Coral Carpet', not 'Coral Flower Carpet'. You got what you asked for, so I don't think your mistake should be regarded as their problem. Sorry, but I disagree with your complaint.

Meanwhile, the OP has emailed the owners of the nursery demanding the rose she didn't order wanted. Roses Unlimited's response?

The pictures you sent was a rose that you thought you had ordered from Roses Unlimited. We have never carried the rose that you sent pictures.
The rose that you received was a Ben Williams rose that was Coral Carpet. We carry this variety as well as Hortico.
I do not feel it is our responsibility to do anything other than what we have done and that was to send the rose that you ordered. The rose that you wanted has a slightly different name and that is Coral Flower Carpet. We have never carried that rose. We are not even given in Combined Rose List as being a source for that rose. We list Coral Carpet as a medium pink and the date is 1997. The date of the rose that you sent pictures is not this date.
I do not feel we are responsibile that you ordered a rose from us and the date and name is completely different from the one that you sent pictures. I wish this had not happened for you as you wished something different from what you ordered. We did send the correct Coral Carpet and I can give you Ben Williams email to verify that you did receive the correct rose that you ordered from Roses Unlimited.
Sincerely,
Pat Henry

And---cue the soup! Lisalj shoots back.

It's just funny to me that the vast majority of people 100% list the Coral Carpet Rose that I wanted on the Google search That doesn't persuade some of you know it alls that maybe I had a right to expect that rose to come? - every other vendor for example that I checked and have previously successfully ordered from showed that same rose.
and in spite of that I am subjected to (not that I care)the verbal abuse and sarcasm here immplying that I probably should have guessed she would sell me some obscure and hideous form of that rose that almost no one knows,

FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME THAT IS ALL WELL AND GOOD that she had an obscure version I have no problem with that and wanted to work it out as a substitute or a refund. No problem with either.

I think I am 100% in the right and was perfectly reasonable to expect the rose I finally ordered elsewhwere to complete my mass planting. Funny none of the other 10-20 vendors were confused....

It's a shame as wonderful as this list is and 99% of the participants are how a certain faction likes to pile on and be ugly when they don't even know what they are talking about.

I guess that's inherent in that type of individual. --Lisalj

It moves on from there to an argument over how to Google a rose bush and whether or not the rose vendor was rude to her or not. No internet argument would be complete without the
Goodbye Cruel Internets! follow up.
