Politically incorrect but not racistic!
For once I can empathize with the "Oh God they live near me" response. Lolz. Trolls. Photoshopped Macros. Flames. Political Incorrectness in the guise of "being awesome", Godwin's Law, splinters from the head desking. Oh wait that last one was me.

Snagged off of wank_report, first part taken directly from G.Mousey, except when marked with a {}

Follow the linky to the wank

Troll_lady insults somebodies musical taste {Probably this post here,} in a earlier post and when the original poster of said post disables comments, [info]troll_lady uses the above post to “apologise” for her hurtful remarks. The post itself isn’t really wanky, {in as far as photoshopped macro's go} but rather what occurs in the comments as [info]perfect_riot posts many, many tasteless Sophie Delezio* jokes:

http://community.livejournal.com/sydneysiders/711057.html?thread=7838865#t7838865
http://community.livejournal.com/sydneysiders/711057.html?thread=7839889#t7839889

Some people find it funny. Most people don’t.

There’s also a nice little debate on the merits of political correctness and someone running about calling people ‘fag’s for no apparent reason.

Oh! And it now continues in this post, when [info]proof_im_human tries to change the subject. Unsuccessfully. {One of the tricks is to not mention your changing the subject, I'd suspect.}

The second part of the wank features... More macros and justification of said macros.

http://community.livejournal.com/sydneysiders/711230.html?thread=7866430#t7866430
"I think you're missing the point here, the reason David (perfect_riot) posted these images of the Sophie girl was because of the absolute media frenzy it's caused and the false hero worship of a little girl that doesn't know what's going on nor is a hero in anyway. It's just a circus and a tool to pluck at society's heart strings.

QUITE different from me or anyne suddenly running up to the very person and abusing them.

And personally, I'm not interested in this either way. I just believe in freedom of speech, if people wish to revolt against their frustrations with the media on some livejournal commuity, whatever, don't encourage it but don't blantly try and stop them, that just causes more attention!"

http://community.livejournal.com/sydneysiders/711230.html?thread=7868734#t7868734
Flaming aside, bad jokes are the bedrock of this nation. A nation built by English/Irish/Scottish/Welsh criminals and persecuted people from Europe to East Timor strives on jokes that are a little questionable in content. It's Unaustralian to not find them funny.

YOU ARE UNAUSTRALIAN. I'M CALLING ALAN JONES AND PIERS AKERMAN TOMORROW."

But don't worry, there is a truce, and they are all friends now!
Really.

Am I the only one who thinks that [info]troll_lady gave it away with her username, and is surprised that anyone takes her seriously, ever?

*Context:
This is one of the more recent news items on Sophie: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,19784502-1702,00.html

There's been some what of a media frenzy around Sophie, applauding her and calling her brave, fund rasing, etc, to the point that there has been a backlash. A backlash of what, I'm not entirely certain, but enough that I've noticed the backlash more than the source articals.

I'd rather move interstate than hang around in that comm. Shouldn't they all have myspace accounts to go with their utter awesomeness?

I don't have any particular sympathy for Sophie Whatsername, but perfect_riot is an ignorant, idiotic fuckwit. S/he behaves like a dickhead all over livejournal and then gets huffy when people actually don't find him/her amusing. The trick to having intelligent people find you funny is to, you know, be funny.

Also, am I the only one who finds it utterly ridiculous that there could be a backlash against a child who was almost killed not once, but twice? Do we not have better people in this country to target our vitriol towards? Rove? Bert? Gretel? Jebus.

My God Bert is the COOLNESS!

I haven't seen a backlash against the poor kid herself. Its more the media coverage than anything. It got to the point where you couldn't turn around without seeing an article (this from the girl who cried when she heard she'd been hit a SECOND time, as bad as the media are, God that poor kid)

I love these kids who are saying she's not brave for surviving what happened to her. Wonder how many time they've been trapped under burning cars and lived to tell the tale?

But maybe that's just me.

Dude, ew. Not funny, no.

And let's not get into defining brave, because that takes us back to the 9/11 firefighters wank. I could care less whether it counts as 'courage', it's a damned horrid thing for one child to have to go through and I pray she stays strong enough to handle that sort of pain and trauma.

Well, and that it doesn't happen again.

I can understand wanting to kill all media outlets due to overexposure (I hold a particularly wanky grudge when it comes to the whole Natalee Holloway fiasco), but being a complete and total asshat about the kid involved instead of directing it at the media just makes you look like a coldhearted bastard. Poor kid, and I wish her the best.

I've met many five year olds that I couldn't stand. I never wished them ill however, I just wanted to be far away from them. Fortunately, most of them felt the same way about me, so we were able to work it out.

As for Sophie herself? Media overexposure is not her fault. And, even if people are forced to see her picture 24/7 for five years, if one person is a little more careful while driving and that prevents one other person from getting hit? Well, suck it up, buttercup, it was worth it.

*laughs* I might be a bit testy because I actually had to spend time with a rather obnoxious four year old, who sadly, I'm related to, so I can't pawn her off so easily.

By the end of the day, I was thinking those CF hardcore folks might be on to something. Maybe if I pretend to be one, people will stop using me as a babysitter.

I've met five-year-olds I didn't like, but, then, I've taught preschool, and if anybody actually thinks that they could never hate a kid, I know of no faster way to disabuse them of that notion than teaching.

Troll Lady told someone that they were worst than Hitler for their tastes music, that person disabled comments so they didn't have to hear it. Troll Lady posts an apology with a bizarely photoshopped wet cat.

Someone responds with a macro image joke, that involves a seriously injured five year old (Sophie).

(From the news artical I linked: "In December 2003, Sophie lost both feet, some fingers and suffered third degree burns to 85 per cent of her body when she was trapped under a car that crashed into the Roundhouse Childcare Centre at Fairlight."

She was also hit by a car recently so thats why she's been in the news again.)

Someone says thats distasteful basically, perfect riot, justifies it by saying its because she's in the media all the time and the wank goes on from there.

Don't watch T.V. Only read the sunday paper. Stick to techy news sites.

Leave the country for a month.

That's because now it's 'OMG SHE'S GONE BACK TO SCHOOL!' everywhere. If I never had to hear of her, or Kylie, or Delta Goodrem, or Jennifer Hawkins, or bloody Simone Warne, or Jessica Rowe or a few other of our 'choice' D-grade celebrities, it'd be too soon.

(I tend to stick to political news sites, if I can help it. Or mailing lists, or just ANYTHING else.)
