Moved from CW since it's slow today and there's nothing like titwank. Or something.

Behold, a boobie with a baby attached. The article details the 'uproar' about this free magazine in grocery stores exhibiting a baby suckling. Honestly, the article itself is hilarious just for some of the reactions by the ladies interviewed. But this is about nursing.

See, what bugs me about these people is:

If a breast is only sexual (or inappropriate) in certain situations, why can't we all walk around topless? Some people are bound to oggle the breasts anyway, just like with breastfeeding, and you can make the function argument for being topless too (it's really hot here, and all that extra fabric doesn't help). And anyway, it's natural to be topless, our bodies are not designed for clothing.

Well, you could always move to Ontario,Canada, we're allow to be topless in plubic...Now, no one really does it, but still, we can.

I know this is late, but you can actually go topless in the State of Ohio, so long as you're not doing it for explicitly sexual purposes; ie, rubbing your boobies on someone, etc. But being topless is absolutely allowed.

The headline for the article relating to the picture is, "Why Don't Women Nurse Longer?"

Maybe the answer is, "because there is so much batshit insanity surrounding the entire issue that it's just easier to wean your child onto solid food at the first sign of dentition."

Ahem. I should probably warn before anyone reads further that this isn't wanky enough for its own thread, and it's a single comment that was posted a month ago (on IMDb dun dun dunnnnn) but it does relate to boobs in general so I of course must share it here.

On the Disney Channel, Breakfast With Bear features Bear from Bear in the Big Blue House in little segments before and after two back to back Disney shows that have nothing to do with Bear. It's not really a show, per se, although it's listed as one.

It always starts off with Bear going to visit a child at his or her home and the door is always answered by one of the parents, yadda yadda yadda.

The wanky comment I found was in this thread by spam_ninja.

I came looking for "Breakfast with Bear" as well.

What drew me here in the first place was Gigi's mother (I think it was Gigi...). She opened the door and we were confronted with some of the largest breasts I have seen outside of a silicone model. To top it off, she wore a shirt that on a much less endowed woman would have displayed her belly button from the neckline!

Anyway, I must admit I stared. However, so did my 8, 6, and 5 year old daughters. My 4½ month old lingered on the T.V. for a moment, but she was not breast fed and so, lost interest quickly.

Immediately my 5 year old spins around, "Daddy, who is that lady?". "Dunno." "She got really big boobies." 8: "Uh yeah." 6: "Sure does."

Am I the only one who sees something wrong with a buxom woman on a children's show?

I don't remember ever seeing this segment so I don't know if spam ninja is exaggerating or not, but I love the logic about why the 4½ month old isn't interested. I suppose if she had been breast fed she'd have been right up against the TV.

I wonder if these people are also offended by seeing african women on the news, letting their boobies hanging all out there for the world to see.

Anyway, I don't understand why they're all like, "oh no, breast!" I mean, if they have the imagination to make breastfeeding a sexual thing, couldn't they also just imagine the small piece of boobie we see on the cover to be, I don't know, a funky chewtoy or something? A fake boob attached to a cyborg? Or the back of another baby's head?

I'm such a good problem-solver. Time to start hiring me as a peace-negotiater.

The way I've been hearing it, the only people who object to seeing breastfeeding in public are the childfree. Nice to see that's been proven wrong.

I don't care if people breastfeed in public or not. Just don't offer me a taste.

This is a summation of why I would never breastfeed in public:

"When they see a woman's breast, they see a breast — regardless of what it's being used for."

The same reason I'd never walk around topless even if it were legal and I wasn't incredibly uncomfortable without a bra. I don't like people staring at me when I have clothes on. The thought of guys looking at me in a sexual manner without my permission sickens me. I realise this is nigh impossible to control, but it doesn't make it any less creepy.

Of course, once I actually pulled a knife on a random guy for telling me I was hot. I never intended to cut him, and I, erm, may have been under the influence of some chemicals at the time...but I wish I could teach every guy not to act as though women walking down the street are paintings in a gallery.

I used to know this crazy hardcore Mormon guy who objected to the WORD breast. He said that if he ever saw a woman naked, he'd have to marry her, because otherwise the fact that he saw her would be adultery to his future wife*. So, yeah, he'd find it offensive, anyway. Jeez, I see more boob staring at me from the covers of Cosmo and FHM. At least this magazine is using the breast to advertise breastfeeding and not 101 More Ways to Please Your Man.

Of course, my mother was the type to turn magazines with naughty covers around in the checkout line, or make my brothers keep their eyes forward. Ah, the joys of growing up in a conservative Christian house. :)
