I was singing while walking home a few weeks ago, and a couple of girls told me that I should totally try out for American Idol. After declining a few times and them insisting, I said I'd look into it and left, all the while thinking, y'know, that show is totally not the end-all-be-all of musical talent. For real.

(They claimed to be musicians--I'd expect them to know better . . .)

	That's what I hate about the show. It's suddenly becoming the 'discovery vehicle' amongst people that don't know the industry very well. Meanwhile, real musicians are busting their guts in pubs, bars and hotels, trying to whip up a bit of a following. Maybe I'm just bitter. LOL! (Reply to this)(Parent)

I love how the artists not liking NZ Idol is so ZOMG ELITIST U HORS. Gosh, I can think of no reason why singer/songwriter types might not like a cover song based talent show besides their inherent desire to OPPRESS THE DREAMZ OF THE PROLETARIAT YOUTH.
