Shortbus fish inna barrel wank
On the IMDB board for John Cameron Mitchell's new film Shortbus, MOVIEMAN-169 poses the wonderfully incisive question:
To all of you who think that the use of real sex adds anything to the movies -

do you also believe that real bullets should be used when actors onscreen are shooting each other?

Hilarity ensues. Pretty much everyone tells him in one way or another to STFU and stop being such a damn idiot. Small, but fun and easily digestible on a Monday morning.

(Full disclosure: Saw the movie yesterday and really loved it. Am possibly biased because a close friend is friends with John Cameron Mitchell and has been raving about it for ages. But I do think it's very good; and it's worth noting that Mitchell was clever enough to put a lot of the sex in the first ten minutes, thus giving the audience plenty of time to get over their "OMG SEX" reactions and be able to pay attention to the characters and the story afterwards.)

I usually have a low tolerance for navel-gazing, "character-study" indy flicks. The sex... admittedly, I wouldn't have spent five minutes watching this without it. And if the sex weren't HOT, I wouldn't have watched past the second scene...

But I did, and I highly recommend it - especially for those looking to sneak some stealth porn in on their S.O.s. ^_^

See, my mind can't really make sense of "DNTO host having sex onscreen!", but connecting MuchMusic with sex doesn't seem that far off. That might be because MuchMusic was kinda-sort-somewhat spun off of CITY-TV and CITY has been airing porn since the 1970s. Toss in Ed the Sock and it's not really that far of a jump for my brain to make.

For some reason, though, mixing sex and the CBC just feels odd.

Yes because, clearly real sex = real bloodshed.

It's not that sex is a natural (if risky, yes, but I'm assuming this was safe sex) thing that the majority of people will do in their life time, whereas shooting someone is cruel and inhumane to say the least.
