Wired news posts an article about what could turn out to be good news for transpeople in New York City. Basically the possibility to change your gender on official documents with out needing full gender reassignment surgery.

The comments contain a lovely soup of idiocy, good points, missing the good points...

...and a dose of something that can only be described as 'special' sauce

Yes. Yes, I have.

I think the torrid love affairs my pets conduct prove that they are not of this planet.

*has been to Oslo's gay animal exibit*

I've seen whales, wolves, monkeys, beetles, ducks, swans and penguins do it with the same sex now. If we were to follow their example, we'd have a lot of same sex loving to catch up on.

I can't take people seriously when they use "u" instead of "you" in real discussions. It's one thing when it's just people being silly on AIM or trying to conserve space when text-messaging, but most of the time, it just looks stupid.

For the past three years, the only squirrels fucking on my balcony have been male. I do not know why I have come to run a bathhouse for gay squirrels, but there you have it. They seem to enjoy themselves.

Also, we have a lot of weasels who preach against The Gay and then take meth with gay hookers, but maybe that's just the Focus on the Family species. They do it so often, they've registered a patent.

Dude, does this guy have any idea about the animal world? There are over 200 species that regularly engage in same-sex relations - both male and female. There's a species of water bird that mates in a three way, for crying out loud.

Someone needs to watch more Discovery Channel

DID YOU EVER SEE A MASS GRAVE?

On a serious note, I observed house finches this past summer at my house that were apparently fighting on my front porch. Turns out it was one female chasing males away from another female before cuddling up next to her. Stupid me, I didn't think to grab a camera of some sort.

i think those transexual is alien..not from this world

This reminds me of a conversation I had at Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park, with a man who insisted that there way no such thing as a black gay man. He said that there were gay men, and there were black men, but any man who appeared to be both black and gay was, in fact, a space alien. Lesbians of all colours he was fine with.

Then he negotiated the sale of me in marriage to some other guy for 10 000 pounds. I loved Speaker's Corner.

Is this a quiz?

did u ever see monkey male mate with another monkey male?
Yes, at like....every zoo I've ever been to.

did u ever see same sex animal mate together or live together and don mix with opposite sex?
DURRRRRR. I raised GUINEA PIGS. Now mind, we kept 'em separated because we were raising them by accident, and guinea pigs have no incest taboo, but the boys? Once they got over who was going to be the big pig in the cage, and once they'd both done the little dance of 'see those females over there? I did 'em', they lived together in humping harmony for about five years, and Snowy grieved something fierce when Rocky(who was also his dad) passed on.

Then there was the girls, who just kinda watched, other than Sacajawea, who would get all excited and try to hump the food dish whenever she saw the boycage....aw man, now I miss my pigs.

Considering that Judah, the handsome cockatielboy in my icon, routinely propositions and tries to hump my right hand, both feet, water bottles and the large expanse of blank wall behind his cage, I don't think that we can go by animals when it comes to sexual preference.

All I gotta say is that I'm kind of glad my daughter was too young to realize that a) both the beluga whales in that tank were boys; b) the long stiff things visibly sticking out of them proved this; and c) they really did intentionally mean to roll all over each other for an extended period of time.

Sweet steers. They lost their equipment long ago and yet they still mount one another.

We won't even get into my theories about just why sheep were amongst the first livestock domesticated and just why their tails are now considered vestigial organs.
