Dear Buddha, I want a pony and some art skills.
On artists_beware* , someone posts a warning about an alleged art thief. She fits the classic pattern (backpedalling, unable to produce any references, or evidence that the references exists, red herrings), business as usual. Including her and her friend showing up in the post. Except for skanrashke showing up to insert foot firmly in mouth. The mod keeps popping up to tell people to stop with the personal attacks, until someone takes umbrage.

She needs to hit the clouds with a blur. Selective Gaussian will solve that "obviously a photo" problem you've got going, hon.

Can't help with the tracing, though.

I love making clouds and grass and fur in Photoshop, it's my favourite bit! Why must people just use stock photos? I mean, there are brushes for fur/grass things that are pretty easy to use!

^^; Sorry, just a random comment.

I don't want asshats up in my bizzle.

Generally I find that NOT COPYING is the best way to keep asshats out of my "bizzle", not lying about it...

Lay off the emoticon abuse, the espresso and the tracing, and maybe I'll take you seriously when you say that you're innocent, REALLY.

Who knows, maybe I saw an image once and later thought it was my own idea.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, no, that's been tried. And in this case, with that close of an image match-up, it's about as likely as a certain somebody "accidentally" lifting chunks of text verbatim from Pamela Dean.

Also, that mod is kind of annoying me. No OT lulz! No grammarwank! No swear words!

I sporfled at that too. No matter how much you may be unconsciously remembering a picture, there's no way you can match both pose AND proportion so perfectly.

As Alyssa in Chasing Amy would say: Oh! You trace.

Copying is a way to learn. Most of the great artists used it. Any pictures resulting were usually labelled after “so and so”. It’s nothing new. But bad art is bad art. Daichym should not lose any sleep over a ‘cartoon’ version of her art. The two pictures could never be confused.

I'm just assuming everyone in the world tells the truth. Its' a flawed point of view, but its' nice to have in case someone *is* telling the truth. Personally, I think everyone'd be alot better off if we did. Less confusing, better judicial system.. etc.

Why, no, your honor. I did not run over my ex-husband twenty-three times with a monster truck despite the fifty thousand ralley-goers and countless clear video footage that proves I did.

Judge: Good enough for me. Case closed! *bangs gavel*

Yanno, there's a difference between being in an old masters' class and having to copy in order to learn techniques and copying pictures you found off teh intarwebz for the sake of getting OMGattention! by passing it off as your own work (Well, besides the fact that trying to pass off the former as the original would land your ass in jail for forgery), and that's the level of pretentious lying asshat involved.

"Asshats in my Bizzle" will be the name of my non-existant band's first album.

Also, what is it with furry fandom and art theft? I mean, everyone hates tracing and copying, but it seems like furry fandom spends an inordinate amount of time policing it. It is just more prevalent or what?

Not furbashing, just wondering.

Who knows, maybe I saw an image once and later thought it was my own idea.

Clearly she has a photographic memory, what with the wings that she's lifted from my drawings having the same number of feathers, in the same positions, with the same lines :D What a memory!

I've looked at wings of real birds before as well as comics

Apparently we have also been looking at the same birds and comics!

(I'm not the artist that was the subject of the original post, but I happened across some tracing in other parts of her DA gallery)

I hate to break it to the people there, but the layers don't match up exactly. The basic curves of the body do, which is enough to call it a trace, but the detail, bulk, and even some of the body lines have been heavily modified.

Perhaps it's bad that I find it infinitely more amusing and wanky that people are squeeling, "OMGEXACTCOPY1!!!121~~~!@@!2" than the actual denial of said copying. 'Course, on my part, it's just the usage of absolutes that bother me.

I'm reading through this wank and damn, I'm getting the odd feeling I might actually know ArienRayvn from a good few years back. Her spelling, art/tracing style, and grammar fit this woman I knew about 5-6 years back who was a mad Xmen: Evo and Cardcaptor Sakura fan which branched out into some intensive otaku-ism. She also wrote terrible slash (she'd seme/uke to the point past stereotype) which ended up scarring me until only the past few years after meeting some sane and intelligent slashwriters and reading well done slash that I've mostly recovered.
