Tech Support Woes
Meet techsupport.
They are a community of tech support reps who come to laugh and vent about their jobs. As the user info clearly states...

IF YOU ARE NOT A TECH REP AND YOU ASK A QUESTION IN THE COMMUNITY FOR HELP WITH YOUR COMPUTER, YOU CANNOT HOLD THE COMMUNITY OR ANY OF IT'S MEMBERS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR COMPUTER. THIS IS NOT AN ESTABLISHED TECH SUPPORT HELP COMMUNITY. THIS IS FOR THE TECH REPS TO VENT AND LAUGH AND COMISERATE. SO TAKE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR THINGS TO DO WITH YOUR COMPUTER, WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT WE HAVE DISCLAIMED THIS!!!
Alright, fair enough. Now meet __mindy. She appears on the comm to ask a question about her computer. Reactions from the members go from suggestions of going to the right community, to googling it, to just mocking the post. There's even the appearance of a few macros. One member tries to be helpful and is "disowned" by the other members.

__mindy is not amused by the comments she receives and posts a second time. Cue more mocking, macros (some NSFW), and a few calls of 'troll'.

ETA: Alas! She has disabled comments, and thus they are gone. Did anyone get caps?
Meanwhile, a member calls for the mods to enable comments on her posts.

The ETA Strike Back: Caps were taken! Post One. Post Two.

Return of the ETA: Thanks wonapalei for the tip! __mindy has appeared in the 3rd post. Also the mod contemplates bannination in another post.

I was wondering when that would show up. Just sad that she doesn't comment back.

I think I may have just found the gateway drug to get my husband the Computer Technical Spec!alist-5 on to LJ.

The people there would understand why he wants to kill the user who infected the gajillion terrabyte servers with spyware by downloading Pretty Little Pony wallpaper, against the explicitly posted rules.

Oh, wait...

My years of corporate experience have taught me that one should never fuck with the person who does payroll and the tech support team. Especially the latter. Because you can get paid later. But you will never get over the humiliation of your computer playing gay porn with the volume all the way up and you can't shut it off.

(The tech guy who told me about that has never actually done it, but he has seriously considered it.)

you've probably got some corrupt registry entries in the wireless connection wizard. could be a bad driver as well since it shows being connected but you can't get anything.

open up my computer
click on your c drive
click on your windows directory
click on system32
click on the config directory

delete all of the files in that directory, make sure you empty your recycle bin, and then restart. the system should recreate the files and remove the corrupt entries.

Ok. This person? Gets a prize.

I actually felt a bit sorry for __mindy to start with, because I assumed she'd just confused techsupport with tech_support, which isn't such a dreadful thing. Then I saw the second post and cursed my own sweet-natured willingness to give people the benefit of the doubt.

I kept thinking this community sounded familiar. A few clicks later and the big AHA! kicked in.

My brother posts on the general community under the name "Vacuumtubes". I'm still trying to figure out how someone with the family temper ended up in the tech support career, but as you can see below, he can be very eloquent in his storytelling:
