Snowpocolypse 2K6 wank
Out here in the land of coffee and Microsoft, we've been having quite a month weather wise. First it was the flooding rains and for the past three days it's been unusally cold, snowy weather.

As such, people on the Seattle LJ com have been posting about it non-stop, most people just warning others where they've had problems on the streets and posting snow realted pictures.

Then Funnyoldcatlady posts a lovely little rant to the com:

We're not worthy!
Dear Co-Worker from the Midwest or East Coast:

We're so impressed that in Iowa, Boston, North Dakota or wherever you're from that they're so adept at driving on ice back there. That's amazing that "back home", your supernatural kids go to school in ten feet of snow. You're right, we Seattlites are just "idiots" and "babies" because we can't defy the laws of physics in order to drive on black ice. Where would we be without your gritty New York wisdom brightening our day? Of course, part of the reason you moved here is that we don't tend to get this type of weather, but we won't mention that fact.

Oh, and our pizza here sucks too in comparison to back East. How we hang our inferior heads at that knowledge.

You can go "home" now.

Much love,

Me

http://community.livejournal.com/seattle/4123381.html

As one would predict, this does not go over well with people who are from the East Coast and moved out here.

Watch Romulusnr. Watch Romulusnr wank. Wank, Romulusnr, wank!
Thank you Uptight Seattlite.

At least Back East if we call a city a "world class city" it's not just ass-talking political circle-jerking -- we really know what one is, and mean it.

World class cities have suburbs that own more than one snowplow and know the best uses of salt and sand. Of course, world class cities don't treat their metro areas like terra incognita.

http://community.livejournal.com/seattle/4123381.html

And watch as Gomezticator calls us all babies who should be used it this because it's happened two years in a row.

http://community.livejournal.com/seattle/4123381.html

All in all, while it's small, a good time is had by all. Me, I'm thinking I'll try and scrap off the duct-tape on my door.

Have to love the thread where it's suggested that you can get jobs in places where it's "friendlier" and "has more snow"—Ohio!

I know that closer to the lakes, they supposedly get dumped on, but according to everyone who lives in the Columbus area, the winter here is actually better than the winter where I'm from (Utah). For instance: back at home in SLC, according to my parents/the local newspaper, there's four inches of snow on the ground, and temperatures are in the teens (fahrenheit). Today, in Columbus? It was warm enough that just walking around campus in a t-shirt and jeans, I started to sweat.

I mean . . . yeah, there's a lot of tech jobs out here, especially in Cincinatti. But if you want snow? You have to be careful where in Ohio you go.

What's kind of creepy is that CT and NYC are having Seattle weathers - almost December and no killing frost yet, with all the animal indicators for a long, hard winter. Which means we're gonna get our asses kicked in January, and spring will NEVER COME EVAR.

I hate late springs.

I'll admit it, I'm petty - almost *every* postcard I sent down to BC was "Gee, I'm having a great time - how's the snow!"

As someone who has lived in D.C., I would like to note that just because one's "world class" city and suburbs have the equipment to deal with snow, it does not mean they are equipped to deal with snow.
