I have to laugh so I don't cry. Dennis Prager writes: Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the first Muslim elected to the United States Congress, has announced that he will not take his oath of office on the Bible, but on the bible of Islam, the Koran. He should not be allowed to do so -- not because of any American hostility to the Koran, but because the act undermines American civilization. His argument includes comparing the Koran with "Mein Kampf," argues that no one has ever requested to swear on something other than the Bible (wrong) and ends with "If Keith Ellison is allowed to change that, he will be doing more damage to the unity of America and to the value system that has formed this country than the terrorists of 9-11. " And then there's the comments. Yeah, let's have people swear on a book that says God turned Jews into pigs and monkeys? You know, like the Koran. Yeah, let's have people swear on a book that says God, even unto this very day, permits sexual slavery. You know, like the Koran. Yeah, let's have people swear on a book that tells its adherents to imitate, even unto this very day, the Prophet Mohammed (who had sex with a nine year old). Yeah, let's have people swear on a book that tells its adherents to subjugate Jews and Christians who live in their lands and force them to pay a tax so they won't get attacked by Muslims (extortion). You know, like the Koran. Yeah, let's have people swear on a book that if followed REQUIRES the ultimate destruction of our way of life. You know, like the Koran. (Has this person even read the Bible?) --- One commenter tries to point out that Keith Ellison is not a Muslim extremist and is, in fact, married to a Christian woman. Saying there are no extremist Muslims is like saying there are no extremist Nazis. --- Quite correct. A true Christian believer would never marry a Muslim. If anything, she would wait for him to convert - then wed him. Male Muslims welcome the option to marry those who are of different faiths as it is their option to "kill the infidel" - thus by his religion, he has every right to kill her. --- When the actual text of the Constitution is brought up ["no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States"] we have such persuasive disagreements as: The point is that swearing on the Bible ISNT A RELIGIOUS TEST, it is a part of American political culture. --- Another commenter points out that certain denominations don't allow oaths at all, which is met with: I missed the headline "Quakers, Amish, and Seventh Day Adventists Behead Captives and Fly Jets into New York Skyscrapers". --- Might as well disparage the entire state of Minnesota, while you're at it. Referring to my subject of "Golden Girls" - I seem to recall that Rose, the really stupid one, came from Minnesota, and openly reflected the stupidity of the average Minnesotan. The writers of the show must have known something, even back then. --- Never fear, though. The liberals can wank with the best of them. I come here to play with the monkeys. Do your knuckles hurt from all the rubbing on the ground? I learned long ago- you can't force neo's to think. Ever- so, just tease them for their stupidity.... Post a comment in response: |
