Small but cute Picture Wank!
Takes place on a community/picture hosting site I use.

A silly college kid posts camwhorish pictures of himself. Manly men bitter about the fact that guys who bathe get all the girlsCertain users comment on his "metrosexual" attire.

Wank ensues!

And is sure to grow.

I must admit confusion. "Metrosexual" would seem to imply they're feverishly attracted to public transportation.

I share that confusion. Fortunatly this guy

...is here to explain it:
I believe that we've been through this before...metro means mother and sexual means...catch my drift?

Uh. No.

Laste time I checked, the root for "mother" was "madr-", "mater-" or "matr-". Maybe if they were "matrisexuals", that would make sense, but even that would tend to imply some kind of bizarre fetish for weddings.

Metrosexual is a recently coined term meaning a man who grooms and cares for his appearance, but is straight. Justin Timberlake is often referred to as metrosexual. (Though we in popslash prefer to think otherwise. *g*)

Because proper hygiene, grooming, and attention to attire are SO GAY. [/sarcasm]

Sorry, not directed at you. I just get so frustrated with that attitude.

I've been wanting to for ages, but I can never get a good bunny. I have the DVDs now, so hopefully watching them again will help. =)

Okay, I've heard the phrase before and didn't get it, so perhaps you can explain: what, in this context, does "bunny" mean?

bunny = idea, plotline, that sort of thing. I have no idea where the usage started.

Three times. I've had to read The Odyssey three lousy, stinking, miserable, interminable times in my life. Once in middle school, once in high school, and once in college. Why Penelope couldn't hire some security and throw those goony suitors out, I will never know, but surely the rules of hospitality didn't have to be that stringent.

It's wasn't coined recently, but it found mass-usage recently. And they don't have to be straight.

I had no idea about the sexuality thing, but here's a good article about it in general.

"Metrosexual is a recently coined term meaning a man who grooms and cares for his appearance"

Of course, most of the posters' fathers and grandfathers assumed that part of manhood was looking sharp. For instance, my grandfather boxed, and had several publicity photos done of himself, one of them was him in a suit and a tie. You may work in t-shirt and jeans, but dammit, when it was something important, you dressed up.

Somewhere between the early seventies and the midnineties, slob = manhood. Or at least that's my observation.

I never thought of it that way, but that makes a lot of sense.

How or why it happened that way is beyond me, but that's an interesting observation.

I could break him in half with one hand, but he doesn't even look metrosexual to me. Oh well.

You know, at the risk of invoking Snacky's Law, it amuses the hell out of me to see guys sniping over one another's appearance. It's the whole "omigod, did you see her hair?" effect, which is probably exactly what they are trying not to be.

Aaaanyway.
