Oh, hell. I just realized that one of those people is on my friendslist. The one who writes Nazi porn? Jeez. She doesn't bother me as much of a lot of them do, though, for a few reasons - the most important being that she's not racist or anti-semitic (she'd have a hard time being racist, as she's black, Samoan and Japanese, and loves K-pop, hip-hop and slam poetry); she just has a thing, sexually, for Nazis. Not that that's good either, of course.

Eh...she's a complicated young lady, I guess. I have a lot of friends that I'm no longer friends with because they got involved with neo-Nazism, but with her I view it more like being friends with someone with horrible taste in music - I don't like it, but it's not malicious.

SecondarySanity/ServeToLive? The one whose friend drew the Nazi/Jew porn for her story. Another reason I'm lj-friends with her is that, despite the sometimes odd fetishes contained therein, she's a very good writer. Hell, I met her on a Jak and Daxter yaoi community (and for the record, no, not Jak AND Daxter like that.) I don't recall reading a Cheney/Rumsfeld story, though, so maybe we're thinking of different people.

Okay, I've got one of those too. What *IS* that? I've never met IRL people mixed up in neo-Nazism. I went 10 years online without having friends mixed up with neo-Nazism (the odd board troll, but not an actual *friend*). But LJ is crawling with these people, and they seem normal up till they post a "confessional" about their "white pride". Why, LJ, whyyyyy?

I don't know, I've never had an OL friend go Nazi on me (other than this one), but a lot of the kids I knew in high school just got too far into white-power punk and racism, and I had to completely change the group I hung out with. Maybe it's because we're from a tiny Southern town with essentially no music scene outside of white-power punk, and I forgave them for it for a while, but it just got too wrong for me.

I've known only one neo-Nazi ever and he was just some tweaker I'd occasionally run into in Portland who really wasn't a bad guy in other respects.

I think it's just become cool to hate in the past few years. Even on otherwise sane forums where you wouldn't think to see such subjects come up, I've seen people who weren't trolls extol the virtues of eugenics and say pretty racist and anti-Semitic things. It sickens me. I've left a few sites because they openly tolerated shit like that.
