More poetryslamming wank
I wish I'd saved the original post/application, which has been deleted, but the sequel is here.

Rewind: _gobo_ turns in three poems, two long and one short. S/he gets an immediate no, and replies with a long-winded comment about how the first two are supposed to be ironic and subversive--the first one's about a guy saying how much he loves this girl, blah blah, oh, maybe he doesn't love her so much, meaning that he's really satirizing blah blah blee blee. Of course, if you have to tell us it's satire, it's probably not very good, and it wasn't. To top it off, s/he links to a previous application from a current member that "was shit" but got tons of "yess" and was accepted. Don't quote me on this, since I'm working from memory, but I seem to remember the comment concluding that this was an elitist hipster community (well... touché) and he'd expected as much.

The next no vote: s/he copies the exact same post in response. The next: C&Ps it again. The members do not take kindly to this, his/her poetry, or attitude in general.

The next I hear, s/he's deleted the post entirely and posted this in response:

i got what i came for. my movements are not aimless.

i had to make sure first, and now that i know i can state with a clear conscience that just as i assumed: this place is crap.

another symptom of:
too much and not enough.

I think the real wank has come and gone, but _gobo_ is still replying in the comments, so it could flare up again. The real thing that cracks me up is that someone turns in really bad poetry--and apparently "admitted somewhere to having 'literally shat out' the application pieces," according to one poster--but when it's not accepted, it's only because the members are elitist hipsters.
