realcdaae: If your IQ is so high, why couldn't you get a better job?

Much as I hate when people do "mine's bigger" IQ-waving like vulgarisprime did in their comment, realcdaae doesn't appear to get that people often have to take jobs like this because they need the money and can't afford to wait around until they're hired for a position more suited to their brains, skills, degree and/or Sanford-Binet score.

Has realcdaae been wanked or mentioned in a wank report before? Or am I getting tinhatty because of her connection to gerbilsage?

	I'm pretty sure she's a repeat offender. I know she did something to piss off the powers-that-be on LJ, and had her account permanently suspended, but I have no idea what's she's done. She does tend to turn up in a lot of wanks—not necessarily as a participant, but as a spectator, though that could be because she's a member of stupid_free. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	My friends brother has a college degree, but is working as a cookk at a local chain restaurant. When I graduate and have to start paying off loans, I'll probably be stuck in retail until I can get a break. And even then I doubt I'll get anything in my field unless I move to California or New York and I just can't afford to do that. :/ (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

One of the people I worked with at Blockbuster was going to school to be a doctor. She'd gotten up to the point to where she just had to choose her field and wasn't sure if she was going into Pediatrics or General Medicine. Since she had such trouble finding a job since they'd all look at her education and say it was too much for the job, she stopped listing it since as she put it bills needed to get paid and she could ring people up or flip burgers as well as anyone else.

That's why this is such bs...People just like to make it look as if telemarketers must all be stupid assholes, because that makes the callee feel better about acting like a cunt.

I had to work when I was in college. In summer, that meant coming home from my out-of-state college to find a temporary summer job. I worked at a market research place for two summers because despite my high intelligence and education, years of retail and customer service experience, and excellent work ethic, I could not get a job anywhere else. The reason I was given most is because my school year started a week before the local kids went back to school and "summer was over." It was totally absurd and it forced me into a job I hated.

So I did the only reasonable thing: took a job making $7.50 an hour to annoy the shit out of people and get cussed at, and resolved to hate everyone in the universe. Every caller was potentially that fucking manager at Auntie Anne's pretzel stand who wanted to spend another two weeks finding an employee to work a week longer in August.

I think there was a point in there somewhere, but I forget what it was, so in conclusion, we should encourage world peace by banning telemarketing and pretzel stands.
