Who is funnier: Media Matters or Ana Marie Cox?
It all started when Osama Bin Ladin Barack Obama started elementary school...
No, wait!
It all started when the Hillary Clinton campaign found out that Barack Obama had attended an Islamic religious graduate school called a "madrassa" instead of elemantary school like everyone else...
No, wait!
It all started when Insight magazine and Fox News Channel found out that Hillary Clinton had made up a story about Barack Obama going to a madrassa as a kid to use it against him...
No, wait!
In fact, it started when Media Matters started meticulously piling up all the evidence of the story Fox News Channel made up to make both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama look bad. Because that's what they do.
Time.com's Ana Marie Cox then wrote a small piece about the whole brouhaha, and started it with these unfortunate words:
The humorless but dedicated folks  at Media Matters have been on this scurrilous Obama-the-Bomber story for days, but I'm sad to say that this is one instance in which they seem quite right about the truth still getting its boots on while the lie does the herky-jerky during the credits of "24."
The Media Matters fans who stumbled on the piece were, naturally, highly affronted:

Oh, ha ha ha, MediaMatters doesn't make Rose Law Firm jokes...they totally suck.
No, they just work day-in and day-out to document lies broadcast by the media. Something some might call...investigative reporting. (Crhis_NYC)

At least Media Matters doesn't TRY to be funny ... and fail.Better comedians, please! (TBH)
Question: Are you on drugs?
If, for some bizarre reason, the answer is actually "no", then I'd highly recommend it.
Love, Gryn (Gryn)

Yeah, we get it, Cox- you're sewper-kewl and MM are total geeks. What the hell else is new? (tb)
Why do I sometimes laugh at the Foser's "Media Matters" column that comes out on Fridays if it isn't funny? Is it because it often mocks a bunch of self-important jerks? It is like getting a small, weekly dose of Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Of course the self-important jerks assured me Colbert wasn't funny either. Go figure. (flounder)

Cher Ana Marie Analtoilet
Your Anal Highness let these humour challenged Communoislamoleftifascists eat cake madame. They cannot hold a candle to your incadescently superior insights into the putrid degredation that is the modern media. Why madame cher Regina, how can we wallow in the frothy goodness of Santorumitude if anyone ever checked facts your highness? How could you cope if every truthiness were flushed down the Water Closet of history?Of course Madame we should simple take your Royal word for it that Hugenot Hitlerly Clinton started these rumours. You were after all chosen by God. In the immortal motto of Paris a city that surely had the Swampblog in mind: "It floats, but it doesn't sink." Vive le Roi and the unflushable career liberals of the Swamp!faithfully, (Rt Hon McAdder)

Ana Marie Cox gets accused of not being funny herself:

"n which they seem quite right about the truth still getting its boots one while the lie does the herky-jerky on during the credits of "24.""Huh. If that desperate, failed stab at being hip and funny is "humor", I think I'll go with those humorless, fact-based folks at Media Matters. You might actually have had a good post here if you hadn't been so self-consciously eager to be funny. Also, how exactly do you justify, in your own head, decrying stereotypes about Hillary while pereptuating them? (Jim)

Swampland: Proudly circle-jerking as Rome burns. (Jackson)
I think Time laid off the wrong people last week...this blog would be a waste of trees if anyone thought it was actually worth printing on a piece of paper. (Blue Velveeta)

Who's yer daddy, Ana Marie?
Who's yer daddy! (Joke Line)

...of not making enough jokes about anal sex:

Please, skip the bad jokes and stick to buttsex. It's more your style. (Maynard)

You should stick to writing about anal sex. It's the only thing you do well. Klein too. (Johng)

I came here to hear about serious matters, like buttsex. (urkel)

Back door girl in a front door world.heh (mestizo)

...of being one of those mean girls in High School:
Now I remember why I quit reading Wonkette. It's like a Jr. High lunchroom flashback. (jimbo)

and of Hillary-bashing:

Hillary's really mean person who'll do anything to win! Weeeee! You'll be a regular on Hardball before you know it! Then you can do your duty as a serious pundit to help another idiot be elected President. (porgy tirebiter)
I love how the "librul" media types can acknowledge a right wing smear job on Hillary and still blame Hillary for it by the end of the story. (John)
Wait... Is there anal sex on 24? Or is this blog just planning to ass-fuck every Democrat in the race by endlessly repeating and debating Republican talking points for the next two years? I don't get the joke. I must be humorless too. (zota)
Ok, so your first paragraph points out that people are lying hard core about Obama, then you call it brilliant.
Is there ever a time when lying isnt brilliant for you folks? In other words, perhaps instead of applauding the cleverness of the lies being pumped out maybe you could, Oh I dont know, make a joke about the liars instead? Media matters pointed out last week how you can just about say anything about the Clintons and you pundit folks think it's in bounds. But actually attacking the liars appears to be out of bounds. How do you square that? (Alexande)
Wow, Ana, you've really outdone yourself in Hillary bashing. In the space of a single paragraph ostensibly defending her from a smear, you manage to reinforce it in seven (count 'em) ways, ending with the same snark that Marc Antony used to great effect on Brutus:
1) I think Hillary is especially susceptible to this sort of dirty double cross
2) Last October, she apologized to John McCain for an insult reprinted in Maureen Dowd's column as coming from a Hillary "adviser."
( 3) Part of the stereotype HRC has to buck is that she'll do anything to win.
4) (Though some are trying to rehabilitate that into a plus.)
5) A really smart GOP operative can put out the most outrageous dirt about a Dem challenger (or even a Republican one) and even if no one believes the dirt, having Hillary's fingerprints on it is credible.
6) It doesn't help that Hillary's people are pretty ruthless
7) they're just also basically, you know, honorable.(Newton Minnow)

Of course, a bunch of trolls show up, but nobody pays attention to them, because they're too busy wanking.

I'll leave the last word to Media Matters, who had this to say about the whole kerfuffle:

In a recent post, Cox referred to Media Matters for America as humorless. Needless to say, we were not amused.

I can't believe Wonkette, (which AMC founded), hasn't been doing anything with this. Sadness!

I didn't know she had founded it. Is she still there? It would explain why they've been silent about it...

She's the original Wonkette, yeah. She's not really still there, except for occasional guest appearances, since she has an actual, like, paying media job now. But they're usually pretty quick to jump on any reference to her in other media sources, hence my surprise.
