Won't someone think of the CHILDREN?!
I come bearing more Lede wank. Today, the Lede posts about how the kids of today are getting an eyeful of pr0n online:

It will probably come as no surprise to most Internet users that a new survey, published in the February issue of the journal Pediatrics (an abstract is available here), found that nearly half of all young people reported exposure, intentional or otherwise, to online pornography.

Forty-two percent of the 1,500 youngsters (ages 10 to 17) who were surveyed by telephone between March and June 2006 reported such exposure. Two-thirds of those who were exposed said the exposure was “unwanted,” according to the study; the exposure occurred most often when using file-sharing programs to download images.
The very first poster in the comment thread brings the wank:
This problem would be easy to solve if mom’s behaved like moms by taking proper care of their children. Children need close parental supervision, particularly maternal, all the way through high school. They don’t get it when mom’s off working full time and returning home so tired she just wants to chill out.
And they're off!
Wow Mark- You sure feel threatened by working women… “Beats me why women think having a career is such a big deal”… How stupid are you? Your question is the same a women asking men why we need to have a career? Why don’t you stay at home and take care of kids?
And that's just the beginning.

Oh, yeah, there's a believable study right there.

(Too tired to look at the moment - sorry!) Did Mark also wank about mothers not monitoring random phone calls by perverts said interviewers? RME!

No, you blame it on pop-ups and the browser being evil and randomly adding naughty sites to your history. Or at least that's what my brother did.

Back in the days of dialup (when I was around 14-15), I once knowingly went to a site with pr0n, not knowing that it would drop my connection to my isp and connect instead to THEIR isp (or something.. I'm not entirely sure) to access their content. I thought it had just accidentally disconnected, so I was all "Ok, connect again!" And then got confused about the site's layout and said "screw it" and went back to doing my regular stuff. While still connected to their site.

One huge phone bill + random bill from pr0n company later I was TOTALLY blaming a shady download site while trying to look for a nocd crack. True story.

Mm, I doubt 20 seperate sites as well as a bunch of Google searched with "PAINT ON CLOTHING" (yes, alll in caps, no clue why) were the result of that.

I am SO glad that I'm just a little too old (and perhaps from a family too technologically behind, back then) to have had the Internet as a teenager, because I probably could have gotten myself into a whole lot of trouble. As it was, I didn't have reliable access until I started college.

Which may have been partly responsible for my grades not being so hot, but I never had my parents checking my history.

I'm really glad I discovered slash the first time I went online, and thus had safer sources for my pr0n needs.

Slash: Keeping pr0n safe for teenagers since 1992!

See, when I was young I was just glad that "Quatre" could be a plausable girl's name, so unless my mom really wanted to read it, she wouldn't figure out it was teh ghey.

Frankly, Quatre could be a plausible girl. You've heard his J-voice, right?

I knew how to clear the history, cache, and open a new window to a safe site (like Yahoo or Neopets) in like 45 seconds within 6 months of my family having an internet connection.

My dad walked in on me watching anal porn once when I was about 16-17. I blamed it on a bad download ("It was supposed to be a music video for Gundam Wing, Dad, I swear! I just opened this file!").

He totally didn't buy it, and read me the riot act. :(
