Won't someone think of the CHILDREN?!
I come bearing more Lede wank. Today, the Lede posts about how the kids of today are getting an eyeful of pr0n online:

It will probably come as no surprise to most Internet users that a new survey, published in the February issue of the journal Pediatrics (an abstract is available here), found that nearly half of all young people reported exposure, intentional or otherwise, to online pornography.

Forty-two percent of the 1,500 youngsters (ages 10 to 17) who were surveyed by telephone between March and June 2006 reported such exposure. Two-thirds of those who were exposed said the exposure was “unwanted,” according to the study; the exposure occurred most often when using file-sharing programs to download images.
The very first poster in the comment thread brings the wank:
This problem would be easy to solve if mom’s behaved like moms by taking proper care of their children. Children need close parental supervision, particularly maternal, all the way through high school. They don’t get it when mom’s off working full time and returning home so tired she just wants to chill out.
And they're off!
Wow Mark- You sure feel threatened by working women… “Beats me why women think having a career is such a big deal”… How stupid are you? Your question is the same a women asking men why we need to have a career? Why don’t you stay at home and take care of kids?
And that's just the beginning.

I once downloaded what was labeled as a normal porn clip, but when I opened it, it was clearly a child having sex with a grown man. I've never felt so sick in my entire life.

I immediately deleted the file and went to take a scalding hot shower, because I felt like I was covered in filth. This was probably 5 or 6 years ago, and I still feel sick thinking about it.

Question.

Do you still live with the irrational fear that the clip is still hiding somewhere on your computer and for some reason the police are going to find it and take you to jail?

I can't file share at all for fear of that stuff now. I think the RIAA are on to something.I keep thinking "Is a free copy of a bad single really worth losing my job for?"

I have issues.

No, because that was two computers ago. The hard drive where that clip's remains may lurk is rotting in a dump somewhere, as the computer had a major meltdown.

Otherwise, yeah, I'd be panicked, probably.

I was checking through my website stats once, seeing who was hotlinking images. While doing this came across one MSN board in... spanish I think it was? where they apparently like pictures of pretty fantasy creatures and... pictures of very young teenagers having sex with men. And posted adverts for very young teens to have sex with men. (No I don't speak much spanish. Jut enough to get a vague idea what the postcounts meant).

I gawped. I asked friends what to do. I FLAILED. Finally I spent until the early hours reporting it to everyone I could think of - MSN, FBI, anywhere friends suggested.

Got an email from MSN the next day saying it had been removed. Felt better then. But damn, am I careful about checking hotlinkers now.
