[info]susano_otter is not amused by all the people posting what he/she/it determines to be off-topic posting in [info]customers_suck. [info]susano_otter is also somehow convinced that posting a long list of things that piss them off will somehow magically stop people from doing this. People wank.

They discuss the on-topicness of the post itself. (Again, and probably several more times after I hit the post button.)

S_O: Have you considered the possibility that people who post to this community are customers of this community?

The condescendingly bitchy comments in normal posts were annoying enough, but the "What about the off topiiiic?!" whining in the comments of every goddamned modpost and attempts to tell the mod how to do her job were what really chafed me.

It Is Time Once Again

So I'm here to read tragicomic tales of man's inhumanity to man, where the protagonist is a long-suffering clerk and the antagonist is a wicked or stupid customer.

Now, two facts about this community:

1.The community description and rules make it absolutely clear that these are exactly the kinds of stories that the community is about.

2.It's impossible to join the community without seeing the description and rules.

With these facts in mind, I come here reasonably expecting to see exactly these kinds of stories--which I really enjoy. I know there are other kinds of stories in the world. If I were interested in those kinds of stories, I'd go find those kinds of communities (and I do; this isn't the only community I visit).

Stories I don't come here to read:

+ Stories that start "I have lots of sucky customer stories!" and end "...and I'll come back some other time to tell you about them!" You know what? Just wait until you have actual content, and then post.

+ Comic strips about sucky customers. If I wanted to read comic strips, I'd go read comic strips. Tell me about customer suck you experienced or witnessed, not customer suck somebody else imagined and drew a picture of.

+ Stories where the clerk gets revenge by providing bad service. I'd explain why such stories are made of fail, but if you're posting these kinds of stories, you probably can't be reasoned with anyway.

+ Stories about cute children. Seriously. They don't belong here.

+ Stories about customers who rock. There's a whole other community for that. If I wanted that kind of story, I'd go to that community.

+ Stories where the clerk is having a bad day, so the customers should cut her some slack for giving bad service. You know what? Customers have bad days, too. If you're not going to cut them some slack for being sucky customers, then you damn well better not be a whiny bitch about your own troubles. Suck it up and carry on, just like you wish the customers would.

+ Any story that starts "I know this is OT, but...". Go die in a fire. Seriously.

People come here because we want a certain kind of content. We reasonably expect a certain kind of content.

When you post these non-cs stories, you're being rude and inconsiderate to your fellow community members. You're claiming to be better than the rules, just like an Entitlement Bitch. You're being a sucky customer of this community.

And just like every other sucky customer out there, you will be called on it, and you will see your suckiness posted here, in this community. Because that's exactly what this community is about: sucky customers.

Stick to the topic, or be the topic.

There are examples of each of these kind of stories within the last day or two of this community's posts, just as there are examples of these kinds of stories in any two day sampling of this community. If you think my tale of customer suck is too abstract, I invite you to scroll down a few posts, and you'll have all the OT suckiness you could ever ask for.

That is all.

*random* did you ever notice how, in every wank thread, there is always a couple people who say "OMG WORD" no matter how stupid the post is? It's usually the first few posts, too, like they're afraid of being wrong and want to see if other people agree. Then they post later, agreeing with the people who call the OP a douchebag.

I love people. =D

Also, I love how one person in the comments was completely mocking the point about on-topic posts, and another peroson missed the mock and said "omg learn to spell plzkthnx."

I remember, back before I left ffrants, someone made a post bitching about the other posts- or rather, a trend of posts. Essentially, it said, "Stop writing these posts because they annoy me!"

If it was anything else that the poster had said to 'stop' doing, the entire community would have jumped her ass and said, "Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean people can't write it."

This time, though, everyone chimed in with "OMG WORD!".

I called her out on it, and got jumped myself.

Only to the comm, and I think it's legal to post things that are locked on open comms.

Well, I don't work retail; all my customers are software engineers, and their suck takes too long to explain to the layman... so unless she bans me from reading C_S, I don't really care all that much.

Only thing a one week ban really does is prevent me from flaming asshats in C_S. Which I really shouldn't be doing anyway.

So it's probably for the best.

Anyway, it's obvious Pez's heart isn't really in C_S anymore, and she's definitely not sure how to proceed.

Well, to the "layman" anything less than "tried to steal/ called me a name/ physically threatened me" probably doesn't suck that much.* I went from working fast food all through high school to a cushy desk job at college, and while I've met fellow students who think it's boring and repetitive I'd rather not work somewhere where people throw fries at me.

And he's the asshole who always pops up in the tipping thread.

God, that was pretty wanky, huh.

I'm sure I forgot some of C_S's old chestnuts. but there are some that don't need repeating.

Yeah, whenever someone complains about being run ragged for a shitty tip, he's almost always the first to jump in and insist that tipping is OPTIONAL and the OP should be thankful for getting anything at all, regardless of how many times someone points out that in the US (which is where these events usually occur, not that the US is the only country on teh internets) wait staff depend on tips as they get paid less than minimum wage and have to split tips with bussers/bartenders/hostesses et al...
