In Soviet New York, iPod bans you!
So a state senator in New York wants to ban using iPods while crossing city streets.

USA Today blogs about it. The comments section is a cesspool of wank, mostly of the righteous indignation kind. Watch how liberals are blamed for all society's ills! Marvel at how Darwin is misused over and over again! Gasp as accusations of communism are thrown around carelessly!

The stupid, it had to be shared.

ETA: BE MORE FUNNY, PEOPLE.

The difference between this and the law against cell phones in cars is that, the cell phone ones are meant to protect others from the drivers.
Where as this one? It's attempting to protect people from themselves, and I don't think that's what the legal systems should be for. What are they going to do next?
Ban people from sky diving before they are much more likely to die free falling than if they are walking on the ground? Make it illegal to swim in area with no life guard?
If people choose to do something risky to themselves, they should have the right to do it, so long as it is not endangering others.
