[info]kitsunegari posts to [info]stupid_free about Britney Spears shaving her head. The resulting wank has nothing to do with the subject matter, but the fact that she signs her posts. (Small but spirited.)

THANK you. I was wondering when that was going to come up.

I hate tildes, which is what I think those wavy things are. Although I do hope in my black little heart, and simply because I know it would get them a beating, that these people do that in real life. "Hi, I'm dash asterisk tilde Shay tilde asterisk dash! What's your name?"

They are, in fact, tildes. And without them, how is s/h/it supposed to let the internet know what a ~*~special~*~ snowflake they are?

I always imagine a waving hand move going with the name when I see a tilde. It makes everything better. Especially when it's applied in RL.

generally the only places i tolerate tildes are over the letter n in Spanish and the letter a in Portuguese. free floating decorative tildes are usable only if the user happens to be Japanese. sometimes not even then, if i'm particularly peevish.

I was in a roleplay where people used tildes to note a happy tone in their character's voice. I've loathed them ever since.
