Everytime one of these "age debates" pops up, I can't help but wonder how many of the people who are all squicked out write fanfiction with pairings that would be equally squicky in their eyes IRL.

I'm weird like that.

Real people =/= fictional people.

Real kids don't get hurt, traumatized or killed in fictional situations involving underaged kids.

I mean, I'm no fan of shota myself. I think it's cute to see/read/write fictional situations involving little kids with crushes on each other or older people (Larsa X Penelo OTP!), but I'm not so much into witnessing hot sexing with them. I find it pretty squicky, overall. But it's still not hurting any real kids and I can perfectly understand why, say, someone who writes fic involving an underage Harry Potter getting it on with half the older generation at Hogwarts would still find some of the stuff this guy did to be gross.

Uh, yes. I know this. I was taking my goofy thought process and putting it out there for no real serious reason. Although this does highlight why I usually remain a lurker more than a commentor.
