Bad service in the ER?

traumawolfe posts a list of Rules of the ER in

customers_suck. Complaints start at the first comment, where it is pointed out that s/he ripped off the list from another site. People also point out, at various points and in various ways, that some of the demands/complaints are irrational. Many personal anecdotes are invoked on both sides and I learn more about hemorrhoids than I wanted to.

Others defend the OP and there is discussion of exactly how bitchy a patient is allowed to be.

Eventually, the OP deletes her journal, but the post remains.

stella4809 makes an off-topic post over here and people complain there as well.

	The list in the back room of the ER I work in is much better anyway. :) Honestly..it was hard to sit on my hands on this one. I know myself, the nurses and doctors bitch and complain about patients, and at the end of the day we really do want to say some of those things..but would we? No. Never. Sick people are sick people. That's what my mother says about this kind of stuff. Her motto goes something like: "When you work in a hospital, your mundane existance is composed of other people's pain and terrifying brushes with mortality."

I think some of this comes from the fact that when someone in our family is ill or injured, she is herself kind of an impatient asshole. Frightened people often are.

Agreed, and you personally have got a hell of a lot more class and maturity than the OP or the original list creator. There are plenty of assholes, idiots and laughable people in the ER -- I can remember that just from own visits when my asthma wasn't in control -- but if you're going to work in certain professions you just gotta learn to bite your tongue.
