Jesus sez "I'll Be Back"
So, you may or may not know about James Cameron's foray into the the "tomb of Jesus". (I'll get right on sending over that Jesus DNA I have in my attic so you can compare the strands, okay James? Oh, wait. That's Elvis' sweat.)

Cue Christians vs. atheists, Israel vs. Palestine, OogaBoogaing, L. Ron Hubbard, and one strange fellow donning his robe and wizard hat in the comments (supposedly, he gives you a good time if you call).

Oy.

Pfft, comparison? Don't you see? They're going to clone Jesus! And he'll totally come out Caucasian, too.

But only ghei couples will have any use for cloning! And if you clone something (especially from the sperm of two ghei men) you'll produce the Antichrist! LaHaye and Jenkins say so, so it must be true!

Is that seriously how the Antichrist appears in those books? I've never read them, but damn.

That's what I've heard. Nicolae Carpathia, a.k.a. Antichrist-sama, is apparently the son of two gay men who apparently combined their sperm to make a tube assbaby or something? I don't know, it was stupid though. *read other people reviews on the series, and that's how she knows*

What the fuck. I stopped reading after the sixth book, I think, back when the stuff going on still made sense (sort of, but I was also twelve and had a higher tolerance for cracky bullshit).

When I was 12, I had a morbid fascination with the Apocalypse 'cause I'd just read the Book of Revelations. So, naturally, I wanted to see what the Left Behind series was all about.

I borrowed the first book from the library and got bored halfway through the first chapter.

Yeah. It's like that.

First chapter was rough, no doubt about that, but I remember it getting better as LeHaye and Jenkins got into the swing of writing the thing - I think mostly they'd been passing propaganda off as non-fiction before that, with true fiction being something of a new thing.

Anyway. That's how I remember it.

I feel obligated to pimp Slacktivist's page-by-page analysis.

...wait, that was their explanation for that?

Yes. I don't have the links to reference right now, but yes, essentially that's what it was.

That's... new and interesting logic. Every time I think I've found a situation in which this icon is the most appropriate, something else comes along.
