[info]customers_suck wank. Yeah, what else is new?

Short story: Customer comes in, demands full refund because the game he bought was mislabeled, the orignal poster refuses because it has been opened.

Long story here.

We have legal-wank, we have politeness-wank and fat-wank. OP has since deleted his/her journal.

And the usual cries of "Doesn't this story belong on [info]bad_service?" Which I think is probably wankier to them than it seems to the outside.

I think Tigerwolf has a point. D: D: D: Unclean!

And I want to slap the people who are going, "Why do people always get mad when you describe someone as fat, but not when you call a skinny person anorexic? lololol!"

Doh. Now that's just unnecessary. Like there's any other kind.

Actually, I have a friend who's a thin, attractive Trekkie -- should I submit a photo to a science journal or sell her on eBay?

;)

I'm amazed at all the people insisting it's bad service for the employee to follow store policy when so many of the stories on that site are about customers abusing employees for doing the exact same thing.

If she'd described the customer as anything other than an overweight Trekkie, I wonder if so many people would bother getting offended and up in arms over the sort of post that happens all the time. It's a description, not a damn value judgement!
Makes me think of Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons, actually.

Calling me a pasty-white girl with small boobs would also be neither offensive nor a value judgement -- it's true and a completely valid way to give a mental image of me. Describing someone's appearance =/= discriminating against them.

It's a description that implies value judgment in a society where the "desirable" is to be thin and where the nerds/geeks/etcetera are at the bottom of the food chain for those who are not into that.

It's not bad service - it's exactly what an employee should do. However, if there's a manager or shift supervisor on duty (and there almost always is), it's best to have him/her come over to handle customers who demand things outside of policy instead of holding up the line and arguing. It's part of a manager's job and also part of why they get paid more.

I'd totally trade her our Halitosis Man for that guy.

Actually, you know, I always thought it would be a fun idea to make trading cards of 'favorite' store patrons, because it's really pressing for me to know if Yellow-Green Legal Pad Lady or Clinton $10 Bill Conspiracy Man would win if they fought each other.

It never occured to me that going shopping with my mum might not be a socially acceptable activity.

I also go drinking and on holiday with my mum (not as a family holiday - just me and her). I wonder how lame that makes me. Probably very - she can drink me under the table without even trying.

Coming from a family who is used to having younger members take care of older ones, and dating in a family that does similarly, I think people just need to grow up a bit.

Besides, I like going shopping with my grandmother.

Sometimes you just have to give the god damn refund and spare yourself the grief. I really just... don't see the point of arguing if the client has a legitimate reason. Sometimes the policy doesn't take into account human reactions and emotions.

I tend to give the customer the benefit of the doubt if they're not rude, otherwise I let the manager handle it. Maybe that makes me a bad employee, don't care. Being a game adviser is a dangerous job if you're not careful!
