no fatties
In stupid_free, there's a post about a girl who is 5'4" and 90lbs, fishing for compliments in ask_me_anything.

[info]isolationista: There's really nothing wrong with preferring to be skinny.
[info]jade_faith: They also said there was nothing wrong with antidepressants, until the suicides started popping up.

And they're off! Look out for [info]blasphemae implying that "underweight!=skinny". And then "underweight=skinny", a few posts later!

Please, no fatbashing.

Ugh. I got two buddies, both of whom I roomed with in college at one point or another, who're 5'3 and 90lbs soaking wet. And you know what? They each eat more in a single sitting than I do in two and a half meals. Skinny doesn't always automatically = eating disorder, especially if you're on the short side.

/personal anecdote

Nor does 90 pounds always mean skeletal, actually. Even at 5'4. Girlfriend's probably on the skinny side, yeah, but there's also a fair amount of bone density stuff that can influence weight.

Also, re: the antidepressants thing: Tom Cruise, is that you?

True. 'Course, being that small has its other drawbacks, especially if you have a very young-looking face. There's been many an incident where I, as the only one in our little crew who carried a wallet and a purse, had to toss campus ID to one of them to keep them from being kidnapped by a teacher for a visiting middle/high school group.

...they didn't recognize them as not being one of their students?

Damn, that would have been awkward had they succeeded. Details!

Well, the last time it happened, there was more than one school in a big group, so it more or less went like
"Come on, we're going to be late getting back to the bus. :D"
"...But I live here. D:"
"Ahahahaha, that's cute. But seriously, come on. Your teacher will panic if you're left behind."
"But I'm a student here!"
"::sigh:: You're too young to be in college, and this isn't funny anymore. Let's go."
"::across the cafetera:: Biscuit! Gimme my ID back for a sec!"
and so forth. Thankfully, SCAD required picture IDs.

*chuckles* That reminds me of an incident at my high school. We had a young guy, right out of college, who was just starting as a teacher. A few weeks into the school year he got into a big argument in a hallway with one of the old battleaxes who was trying to make him show a student hall pass. She loudly threatened to send him to the vice principal's office for being out of class and wouldn't believe that he was a teacher.

There's a girl in my theatre school group who's 13 and smaller than the little 7-9 year olds. (some sort of growth disorder or something) She regularly gets mistaken for a 5 year old, which is kinda scary...especially considering that after you take her height into consideration, she looks nothing like a 5 year old.

Throughout my 20's, I regularly received phone calls from my parents asking me I was anorexic. I similarly ate like a hog and never gained weight, and usually they'd come for a visit, see me, hug me goodbye, and then the whole way home they'd worry and finally by the time they actually got home they were so paranoid that they had to call me right away.

Finally I pointed out to them the irony in the fact that the whole reason they were afraid I was anorexic was because they had just taken me to lunch. They finally stopped.

And then I hit my 30's and my metabolism changed and I gained 50 pounds in 2 years and this isn't an issue any more. The end. (bows)

...In other words, right there with you.

Changing metabolism when hitting 30 is awesome. Okay, I didn't gain 50 pounds. But I'm already really proud of the 10 pounds I gained. Because boobies OMG!11!! And something slightly resembling an ass. So sool.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten that new thermometer thingy to react in any significant way so far, while all the other players are complaining about spontaneous Sims combustion in the hot tub. Might be because I still have to sort through my hacks, though.

I've occasionally had it in the blue and in the red, but none of my Sims reacted much o_O . Also haven't managed to get a sunburn yet. And I have lotsa hacks (though mostly the already Seasons-approved from MATY... I just love crammyboy's cock!)

Except for my very first Seasons-testing sim, who had a beautiful garden, when suddenly the hottub started to burn. She caught fire shortly afterwards *sigh*

It's not been quite as fun for me, because I'd gotten into the habit of being all "oh, I can eat butter and cheese and fried everything and it won't matter because I never gain weight and tralala," and boy, is THAT causing me problems now. My best friend is going through the same thing, and she recently summed it up with, "the difference is that now when we eat an entire bag of Cheetos in one sitting, it has an effect."

Oh yes, I know what you mean. It's cool but also scary if you're not used to it. I'm still baffled by the eating equation changing from "tons of apple pie = nothing at all" to "tons of apple pie = more pounds."

Huh that happened to me when I turned 20. And I was never skinny but rather a never-changing size 8 through my teen years. Yeah, okay so totally different thing but same general idea. It's disconcerting to suddenly have to watch everything you eat or you'll balloon to a new dress size. After 5 years, I'm *almost* used to it.

Hi, body-twin!

I was a steady 10 until I turned 20. I went up to an 18 within the year, accompanied to the sounds of 'WTF body, no!'

Was not a situation of win.

Random, but do you have any good tips for how you started watching calories? My metabolism is just starting to change now and I have a hard enough time finding something decent to eat in the college cafeteria as is.

You know, I did Weight Watchers one summer to try to get small before going to Japan. The main thing was watching points gave me an idea of what was bad for me, or very high in calories even while being good for me. I don't know if I'd recommend Weight Watchers itself, unless you want a DIET, but getting an idea about counting points helped keep me in a frame of mind about food so I could make good choices even with limited options.

Another thing, I joined a gym, and all of a sudden 250 calories for a piece of candy or can of soda is more meaningful when it translates to "30 effing minutes on the eliptical machine" :)

Eh, I'm not a health freak, tho. I still treat myself and I think it matters more to get good calories than low calories. (A 300 cal salad w. veggies is better than a 100 diet meal made mostly with chemicals and starch).

I know the feeling -- in my case, I used to drink over two liters of Mountain Dew per day, and I've since had to quit.

(Yes, I'm a kinda skinny dude. I intend to stay that way.)

You're lucky they didn't decide you were bulimic. I got that paranoia from my parents when I was still in high schools. It was really annoying at the time how thoroughly they dismissed what I said on the subject in order to pursue their obsession that I had an ED. :\

My little brother is like that. *eyeroll* "Little", he's 6'4" now. He eats like a horse, never exercises, and I think he still weighs less than my sister, who's maybe 5'7". I hates him. *pokes* Oh well, I guess I get to be plump and cuddly instead of being like a sharp, pointy knife.

Heh. I'm 6'4", and I've been pegged between 152 and 160 for the past three years, no matter what I ate.

Oddly enough, no one calls men anorexic. Some people do think I'm gay, though.
