no fatties
In stupid_free, there's a post about a girl who is 5'4" and 90lbs, fishing for compliments in ask_me_anything.

[info]isolationista: There's really nothing wrong with preferring to be skinny.
[info]jade_faith: They also said there was nothing wrong with antidepressants, until the suicides started popping up.

And they're off! Look out for [info]blasphemae implying that "underweight!=skinny". And then "underweight=skinny", a few posts later!

Please, no fatbashing.

What is up with people thinking muscle weighs more than fat? I see that all over diet and fitness communities and it drives me bugshit.

*slaps a pound of muscle on one scale and a pound of fat on the other as a visual aid*

A pound of anything weighs the same: one pound. But isn't it true that a cubic centimeter of muscle is heavier than the same amount of fat?

Well, by that logic, nothing could ever weigh more than anything, because a pound of anything by definition always weighs the same.

I think they mean that muscle weighs more than fat according to volume.

God, me trying to talk about maths and physics on a Saturday morning. *laughs*

Yes, exactly. Muscle is denser than fat, so the same volume of muscle will way more than that volume of fat. "Muscle weighs more that fat" is just a faster way to say it.

What is up with people thinking steel weighs more than wood? I see it all over the internet and it drives me bugshit.

*slaps a pound of steel on one scale and a pound of woodon the other as a visual aid*

Sorry, it had to be done.
